Re: Song Fight! Turns 20

It would be possible to break the record if the restriction on multiple entries per participant were lifted. There's no rule against multiple entries per person. Y'all should make a rule that only one entry per band name to avoid the problems with multiple band names and their work arounds on the f...

Re: Copyright musings

John Cage's "4:33" contains four and a half minutes of complete silence. Actually, the music was the ambient sound the audience (and performers) made while sitting still for 4:33. It' starts as near silence and usually ends with some ruffling, coughs and maybe even nervous laughter in the...

Re: Name a state with no Daylight Savings Time (Surprise, Arizona reviews)

According to my research it's Hawaii. And Arizona counts as a state but one of the reservations (Navajo, I looked it up) does observe it because part of the reservation goes into another state and they want everyone to be on the same time. Which I found interesting enough to waste space typing it out.

Re: The MP3 Effect

An MP3 version of something is better than nothing, most of the time. Also, the whole Neil Young "huge difference" between MP3 and whatever that bullshit was he was hawking was 128kbps mp3s. With 320 (or even 192 or whatever) it's much harder to tell the difference. If you're riding in the...

Re: Least-shitty distribution and manufacturing channels

Thanks for that link comparing them all and mentioning Soundrop @Pigfarmer Jr, So the drawback to soundrop is they only release to 23 platforms rather than 100+ on some of the others. Routenote also takes 15% with no fee (if my research is correct) so I think I'm gonna try that one next. If anyone ...

Re: Least-shitty distribution and manufacturing channels

That link has been updated... which link? The one comparing distribution options: https://aristake.com/digital-distribution-comparison/ I hate to agree with Fluffy *wink, wink* after spending so much arguing a couple of years ago, but in the article it mentions this about cdbab: Long story short, th...

Re: Least-shitty distribution and manufacturing channels

Used Soundrop for that double album tribute thing that Vom and I were a part of back in June (ish.) Setting up was harder than on distrokid but not by a lot. A buck a song for each cover, one time fee. Their reporting seems very simple and undetailed but those songs haven't received many streams/lis...

Re: I'm too lazy to be crazy in the (Hazy Holidays reviews)

Pigfarmer Jr : A short punk rock song. I like most parts musically. Lyrically another drug song. Hm…, at least I learned about a one-hitter. Thanks. I wonder which parts you didn't like musically. True story, my wife found my oldest daughter sucking on a one-hitter when she was like three years old...

Re: I'm too lazy to be crazy in the (Hazy Holidays reviews)

Pigfarmer Jr I envy how you got that lead vocal to sit back in the mix like that yet still stand out so clearly. I really struggle with that Me, too. Glad to hear. That doubling is a vst called bitspeak or something. Bitcrushing at it's less than finest. I add a bit of distortion and a bit of bit c...

Hazy Holidays reviews

And The Lamb : I'll reiterate what's been said before, the vocal is too quiet and nearly impossible to make out. That being said, I like this a lot. It feels as if this were recorded live. It touches the old timey stuff I listened to with my Dad when I was much younger as well as some English folk ...

I'd be interested in the cheat sheet for reference if nothing else.

My recording room sucks. Maybe a bit more treatment is in my future this year. (My dream of building another room seems very distant with the youngest kid living in my basement.)

Re: Nöthin' But a Good Time: The Uncensored History of the '80s Hard Rock Explosion

Team hair band here. But I just purchased Rick Rubin's book and Mary Gauthier's book so I doubt I get around to this 560 page monstrosity in the near future.
