Re: Live Gear Setup
Are the cabinets for that Europower powered, or is the Europower driving them? What's the size of the venues? Number of people there doesn't matter for your sound system. Yes, the Europower is driving the cabs. Sorry I can't be more specific about what they are. They are a couple giant boxes that w...

Live Gear Setup
Our band has a couple gigs this summer. I'm trying to dial in our equipment setup (as you may have noticed in my post about Mainstage). This is a broader question. Our current setup consists of: A borrowed Behringer Europower PMP2000 with cabinets and monitors 1 guitarist with a Mesa Boogie Recto-ve...

Re: Using Mainstage for Live Performance
Oh, just looked at the product page for the mixer. So the mixer IS the USB interface? That makes things easier (and doesn't change what I said at all). But it looks like the mixer has built-in effects including compression and such too, so I'd just learn to use that stuff effectively and skip Garag...

Re: Using Mainstage for Live Performance
Thanks guys! This was kind of what I was hoping to hear. But I didn't want to drop the $30 on Mainstage if it wasn't going to work. I'll pick it up and see how it works out. Supposedly Mainstage is supposed to handle multiple instruments pretty well now. That's what their marketing material says any...

Using Mainstage for Live Performance
I have a quick hardware question. I've been recording a lot with GarageBand and would like to use some of those sounds when I occasionally play small shows for friends. I'm interested in running everything thru it (guitars, vocals, keys). I'm wondering what hardware interfaces I need to make that po...

Where to mic my drums
I still have just the mics listed in my profile, the MXL 990 and 991 condenser mics. What would be the ideal placement of these for recording drums?

Re: What is the name of the thing I want?
Thank you all. Exactly the kind of suggestions I was looking for! I think I'll stick with GB and try to find some more VSTs for it. I'm open to suggestions on that too, but thanks for steering me in the right direction, away from the wild goose chase I'd found myself on

Re: What is the name of the thing I want?
Thanks guys. I actually have this http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/K ... n49es.html (or an older version of it) so I have the controller. I guess my question is what software and/or hardware should I run it through to get different sounds/voices live? Is that what a synth module does?

What is the name of the thing I want?
Allow me to ask a dumb question... I've been doing more recording lately with my Mac in GarageBand and recording keyboads/synths with an M-Audio controller. If I want to take the show on the road, so to speak, what hardware do I need. In other words, instead of buying a new synth is there something ...

Re: Bear With Us... (Bear Food Reviews)
I love garageband. I use it on my iPad for arrangement and the 1st 8 tracks. Usually drums bassand rhythm guitars. i like to do vocals once I get the project on my Mac. So the mix was really good to me except one minor thing. I love Friz vocals, but I thought they were a touch too loud compared to ...

Re: Bear With Us... (Bear Food Reviews)
Thanks glennny, I consider that high praise indeed, considering the source.
I was hoping for some feedback on my mix. It was my first full attempt with Garage Band so I'd love to get the thoughts of any you experienced mixmasters out there.

Really wanted to do a song for this title but ran out of time. The opinions below are by someone without a whole lot of musical know-how so take them with the requisite heaping of salt. Berkeley Social Scene Really fun song and quality as usual. Like the line "she's a marathon runner on the tre...

Re: Bear With Us... (Bear Food Reviews)
Thanks for the frisbee - Yo Friz! Waaay too long to hear from you. Your vocal harmonies are a little funky, but what they want to do is excellent. This sounds like a more confident you, still personal sounding and bittersweet but also more mature. Love the water theme, I wish I could write like tha...

Re: Reaper (or other) Template Setup...What's Yours?
This is probably asking too much, but I'm wondering if there is some EQ, Compression VSTs out there that have a sort of set-it-and-forget-it-ness to them? I know every song has it's nuances but I'm just an idiot, especially when it comes to EQ even though I've read my eyes blurry trying to figure it...

Reaper (or other) Template Setup...What's Yours?
I know, I know, I disappeared for a while. I was just browsing through some help and how to threads to see what you all have been up to. I noticed in one that someone mentioned setting up a Reaper template with the tracks, effects, etc. already set up and ready to go. I was wondering if many of you ...

I've been in a creative slump, haven't picked up my guitar for months, so I'm going to try to commit to this song (perfect song title too). I...think...I...can!
