Re: Let's look forward to (The Last Good Year reviews)

Above is my reviews passed through GPT-3 with the instruction to rewrite them in the style of early 20th century French literary criticism. Here are the reviews that actually came out of my brain: Berkeley Social Scene Nice and full sound, could use more definition on the acoustic guitar. Not sure w...

Re: Let's look forward to (The Last Good Year reviews)

Filled with an atmosphere of its own making, Berkeley Social Scene's 'The Last Good Year' is a stirring song that captures the heart and soul of a moment in time. The acoustic guitar brings forth a pleasant melody, albeit one that can benefit from an increased precision to stand out beneath the powe...

Re: Online collaboration technologies

Logic does have a feature where you can add some time BEFORE the 1 of your song, and you can on occasion accidentally make that happen and I think that will f-up your stems accordingly because the space before the 1 is to accommodate like, a pickup note or somesuch. I've had to drag that timeline th...

Re: Online collaboration technologies

If you try to get everything right you won’t get anything out. You should be able to send him an MP3 to record to. His DAW will automatically convert on import— I don’t know of a DAW that doesn’t. Then he can send you the drum tracks as separate tracks, WAV files, via Dropbox. You can even give him ...

Yaks: 1. We are all in a Slack channel together 2. We make a Google Doc for lyrics and everybody takes stabs at editing it if they are inspired to, mostly Ken starts a draft 3. To a Google Drive, or Dropbox folder, somebody uploads a sketch of a song and takes a casual poll of who might be up for cr...

Re: The cards were all dealt (Face Down reviews)

Oh there’s that time when all the sparks flew out of their chimney and burned all the crops Or when they got snowed in the whole way up to the ROOF and don’t get me started on the little asshole Nellie or that simpering limp noodle Albert. I watched it and haaaated every minute. But it was either th...

Re: The cards were all dealt (Face Down reviews)

I mean, Little House went from 74-83, according to IMDB, so I was 2-11. Star Wars was in 77, basically marking the start of my remembering things. I’m sure on airdate or in reruns I watched most of the 204 episodes of Little House. I have a visceral memory of the scene where Mary comes out of her ro...

NeurodivergentEveryOne I assume this is exactly the way you want it to be. It’s not aggravating, but it’s not super interesting. Best listened to while: loading and unloading a dishwasher The Gross Tones Kinda muffled. The vocals have a little bit of Blind Melon sound in the doubling, crossed with ...

Re: Counting stars one at a time (The First Million Is The Hardest reviews)

A couple lines hint at it; is this from the POV of solar radiation? Or was that not an intended implication? I like that take! That's the POV it's from now! But seriously, originally it was from the POV of Skynet, from the famous "Terminator" series of films. The specific clues are: Termi...

Paco of the Stinkopolous (I hope I get better at these) That ride tho. Does that say the first cheese is the sharpest? I like that. Ha. Nice little guitar solo. I do not understand how the first bullseye could miss the target. Wouldn't mind a dynamic change, though I kinda do like the new vibe near...

Re: The rule of syllabic stress

I mean, yes if it's intentional, but I also might not like it so I guess I assume you're ok with that. Why wouldn't you be? Unless you hoped I would be, in which case, uh, sorry? I think something that bothers me more is being too slavish to a melodic rhythm at the expense of natural-sounding prosod...

What’s your pizza method?

I like the “brown the bottom on the stovetop then add sauce and toppings then broil the top to brown it and melt the cheese” method.
