Songfight Live 2014 venue selection

Is it time to look at this?

I have a shed load of Qantas frequent flier points and time on my hands. I would be a potential starter for a weekend stateside. Left hand side of the continent is obviously my preference - but open to alternatives

Surely Viva Songfight Vegas is overdue?

West coast sounds good to me, of course, but I think there may have been some rumbling about D.C. also ... ?

Hmmm. Why do we only plan one big concert a year? We have Songfighters all over the world. Why not do more than one big live show in a year and give people more options to appear?

Well Niv, there's always "Song Fight Presents" if you'd like to run one. But as for the big "event" it seems all we can really do to get everyone together once per year.

That said-- I now live in Washington DC and would be interested in possibly hosting this year, if there is interest. I believe the East Coast is due, and it certainly can't be said that there's nothing to do here. ;)

If it's happening in DC, I'm definitely in.

I know this kind of sounds biased toward my home state (and city), and it might be. But Michigan is a place where things are coming to. Art Prize is a huge national art competition (like an art fight, but much more professionally run than Song Fight, lol, I'm not really dissing Song Fight), and it's in the city of Grand Rapids. Grand Rapids is a growing city, and it is what many people mean when they speak of "West Michigan." I will probably have to find a venue, but GR is da bomb! Song Fight! Grand and Rapid! There's never been a Michigan Song Fight music festival; not even Detroit! Even if you think GR is still a tiny place no matter what anybody else says, at least we should go for Detroit, but GR is best. Go, Michigan!

Even though I'd personally prefer Grand Rapids, let me say this for those who want it in the United States capital. If it will be in DC, we can call it Fight for Freedom.

Are you proposing that you'd run the show? Or is there someone else in Grand Rapids to take on that task? It's a LOT of work, and you need to know a lot about getting a venue set up and live performance gear and so on.

As far as a show title, there's a particular format that every single main show (aside from the first one) has followed.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the people who want it in the capital can speak for themselves.

I would like to host an event like that, but that's my only problem; I don't think I know enough about hosting events. Maybe a little info, and I'll be organizing the Song Fight Music Festival in no time!

Irrefutable Rule No. 1: You must have attended a Song Fight! Live to host a Song Fight! Live.

What's the rule about suggesting a location and asking people if they want to host? Do I have to have attended for that?
