Songfight winter reunion getaway

Post by jack »

Years ago, I used to get a ski cabin each season with a group of Bay Area folks. This year, instead of looking for a random group of people to do this with, i thought i'd put this idea out there and see if anyone in the Songfight community might be interested in getting together for a "reunion" maybe early next year (i'm thinking January or February).

How this works:
I'm considering renting a house at Lake Tahoe for a week. Since I'm not planning to travel home to Virginia for the holidays, this is kind of like my xmas present to myself, since I’ll be saving lots of money. I’d probably spend close to a grand on airline, gifts, etc. and for that much, I can rent a house for a week in Tahoe during the ski season. What I’m proposing (given the interest level) is I’m willing to look into options for this, organize it, and rent something.

What’s the cost?
I don’t know yet. Kind of depends on how long people want to stay for, how many people are coming, etc. Obviously, the bigger the house rental, the more expensive, and the more people that might want to come, the more space needed. That’s why I’m trying to gauge this. I’m hoping that some folks from the Bay Area might be interested (Ken, Sam, Fluffy, Blue, etc….) but certainly if anyone wanted to fly in, that would be tres cool too. My guess is that if people would be willing to donate something like $25 per person per night they stay, I’d probably just cover the rest myself.

So let’s say I’m interested, now what?
Post something here saying you’re interested. Be serious because I am. Also consider how many days you might want to come out for. I’d most likely get the place for a week, and people could stagger in over the course of the week, maybe come and go different days. Right now, it’s an idea waiting to happen and I’m just trying to gauge interest.

So what can I expect?
Only the best skiing/snowboarding in the US only minutes away. Also 24 hour casinos. Cheap buffets. And songfight debauchery. We could play. We could record. We could have a couple big fun dinner parties. You get the drift (pun intended).

Any interest? Also, Ryan (Egg) if you and your wine can make it, you're comped!

I have interest but I don't have the means or time. I'll look into it but I'm pretty doubtful. I wanted to chime in just in case.

I'd be interested in some sort of Christmas-vacation shindig, personally. I've seen enough of my family for a while.
