Bonjour

Post by Dust »

Hey, peeps. I'm Dustin, a twenty-four year old guy who's been haunting SongFight and SomeSongs on and off for the last few years, basking in all of the talent that comes through these channels. Not to sound like an ass kiss, but I'm in awe of quite a few of you, and hope to to find my place in your community and make some proper introductions. :)

I've joined the boards because I'm looking forward to submitting a track to SongFight, which is kind of a big deal for me. Not only because it's my first fight, but also because I'm one of those self-defeating sorts of musicians who's sitting on a mine of unfinished material. This song feels pretty right to me, and I hope you guys dig it when it's done.

Anyhow. Nice to meet you, and rock the jam session.

Heh! Barfknecht is one of my last names. Pair it up with some equally bizarre genealogy, and it was pretty much the bane of my existence while I was growing up ("Hey Dustin, do you barf on your neck!?"). However, I typically go by Léger, my mom's last name, to save face while I'm chattin' up the ladies.

It's a long and weird story, to say the least.

But I've grown an appreciation for Barfknecht. It's sounds like vomit royalty.

If you want to spoil that for yourself, look up what the German word "Knecht" means.

farm labourer -->Knecht
helper to St.Nicholas -->Knecht Ruprecht; Krampus Ös.
menial --> Lakai; Diener; Knecht]
Yeah, menial peon seems a little more fitting. :p

Werd. Except I grew up close enough to Detroit that traveling anywhere north had some sense of culture shock.

Not anywhere have I ever witnessed a more fatalistic sense of news reporting than from Detroit news anchors. "Yeah, so ten people died last night and half the city is on fire. Now here's your lucky lotto numbers!"

Figured as much, I was just curious as I knew a lad named Dust that I recorded with back in the old days, his band was Mad Men Inc.

Yeah, that damned movie is clogging up google. I did find your facebook and myspace pages while looking, however. That's how I know for sure you were from Canadia. Montreal, even.

Greetings Dust.

It looks like you'll easily do better than me.

So far, I've voted for you more often than I've voted for myself.

Keep it up.
