I think there is value in having Round Zero.

Unlike last year, this year's Round Zero has been announced on the Song Fight front page. That may help generate more players to the Nur Ein, so I think we'll hit 25. And if we don't, it is a good exercise.

Round Zero not only creates the field of 25, but it's a warm-up. It's especially helpful now that the rounds are 7 day cycles. Round Zero is the chance for the bands to figure out a system for managing their time during the Nur Ein.

I agree with Niveous. Besides we won't know if it's a good idea or not until after we have the submissions and see how many we got. Round Zero also gives everyone a feel for the competition and the judges.

Yeah, I'm just waiting for round 0 to start. Anyone know when Niv is going to say the word GO? If he does by this weekend, I can get started around 8:00pm on Sunday.

This competition has continued this long? I feel so honored. Maybe I should partake of it yet again, but we will see how busy my life becomes soon.

Wow. Did Reist have some sort of accident and now his personality has splintered in two?

Um, I'm fine. I've got a song written for this, by the way - I should probably record it today since I'll be pretty busy this weekend studying for finals.

Reist is clearly listening to too much Lamb Lies Down and Jolly Roger is the equivalent of Rael.

My tune's complete, but I'll leave it for an evening to see if the mix is bearable. After all, it's round zero, so I don't have too much to worry about, right?

edit: vocals are poor in spots, but I think it's probably good enough to submit. I recorded guitar and vox simultaneously in this entry, if anyone's interested.

I kinda mostly wrote a song (at least, an intro, practically all the music, and chorus lyrics) for this (in my head) during my (1-1/2 hour) bus ride the past two mornings.
I liked where it was headed but it doesn't matter because I will be out of town the entire weekend, no time to record anything.
It wouldn't have mattered because I know I won't be able to keep pace with the every-week thing, so I'd have ended up dropping out pretty quickly anyhow. Unless I was kicked out first, which is not totally unlikely.

Anyway. I'll keep hoping for a similar burst of creative expression to manifest when I can act on it... like for an actual song fight! sometime soon. We'll see.

Mine's in. A little sloppy, but good enough for round 0, I think. Anybody else in yet?

I have a decent outline of a track. Just need to iron it a bit and find someone to whistle on it. I hope you guys like plinky keyboards and awkward time signatures.

I'm in.... with a track I'm rather happy with (read - I had no idea what else to do to it), heck I even tried my hand at something called 'Mastering', who'd've thought it..... expects to be laughed out of the ring...
