help me with this synth sequence.

I'm really struggling trying to get this sound down. If anyone has hints / tips / ideas PLEASE let me know.

Take a listen to this audio sample. It's silly but represents the loop I am trying to create. I have a minimoog model D and also Apr Odyssey. The notes are high E, low G, D, then A. But when I play it on the keyboard it just doesn't sound right. Should be a NIN type sound. I'm not even sure what I'm asking but if you have ideas on how to accomplish this please let me know. Again I think I have good patches dialed in, there is just something I'm missing in execution.

Sounds like you need to find the right patch. I suspect vintage isn't the way to go on this and try a more modern keyboard with a ton of presets. I feel like you want distortion plus filter, but I couldn't get much more specific than that. Maybe a synth guy like Starfinger or heuristicsInc. can help?

I'd like to try to do this with the moog, and some after the fact effect(s). But i'm new to all that. Any synth experts please chime in :)

dude. it's not a synth at all, it's a sAMPLED VOCAL LOOP.
styupit caps l. ock.
wsing along with it. get the feel. record that. add 30 ms or so delay, no feedback.
failing that, thwe closest you'll get if with fm synthesis. if you use reaspon 4, I can send you a close Thor patch. other than that, sample yourself.

Hi, the voice sound was the example given to me to re-create so that I had an idea of his vision. Hope that makes sense. It's hard to explain.

are you still trying to figure this out?

the way i'm interepreting your vocal loop, i think the high parts would sound better coming from resonance rather than playing higher notes on the keyboard. also, i don't think the minimoog has this, but the filter on the little phatty has overdrive -- that would sound good too... make that resonance a little hairier and fatten up the chunkier low part.

you will probably need to sweep the filter with a modwheel or something while you're playing the sequence
