I voted a while ago, but as we wait to see who won, I'm listening to "Still Alive" from the end to Portal. I'm coming to it years late (it just came out for the Mac recently) but, man it is a crazy-compelling song if you've played the game. And it opens with a ukulele.

Re: Nur Ein V: Final Round
I just played Portal for the first time, when it came out for the Mac a few weeks ago. Great game, and yes, the song was better at the end of the game than when I heard it out of context. I'm a 2/3rds of the way through Half-Life 2 now, also, which is amazing also, even all these years later. I'm excited for Left 4 Dead 2 coming out for the Mac also. I'm going to have to put games on the back burner till after Song Fight! Live though, probably.

We are living in parallel, apparently. I bought Half-life 2 a few days ago, and am...well, I don't know if I'm halfway through it or not. No idea. But enjoying it!

Re: Nur Ein V: Final Round
I didn't enjoy HL2 too much, but Portal was an awesome game, and the song was the icing on the cake. No wait, that's a lie.

Re: Nur Ein V: Final Round
Boop Boop wins, taking 80% of the vote.
Boop Boop took the victory in "Stranded", NE1's first round and never looked back. He had a good showing during "'97", before coming in 2nd place in the "Not in This Lifetime" fight. He narrowly avoided elimination in "We Need To Talk" but came back stronger and earned a place in the finals with his artistic turn on "Headphones". Now, he stands alone. Boop Boop (Ben Kreiger) is the 2010 winner of the Nur Ein! Glückwünsche!!!

Re: Nur Ein V: Final Round
Wow. Best hangover cure ever! I'm glad people liked the song. Judges, thanks for having me in Nur Ein V...I've been out of my home recording work habits for a long time and this was a really awesome way to get back into things.
Glenny, great fight! I really dug the acoustic guitar hooks your song, the Tull fan in me loved that.
I'm going to try and songfight a bit more...

Re: Nur Ein V: Final Round
Congrats Ben!
Well deserved! I was brimming with confidence, and really proud of our song. Then I heard yours, nearly busted a gut, by the time I got to the 1st chorus I thought we lost. Since then I've been trying to convince myself that people aren't really into Zappa, especially Ruben and the Jets, maybe they'll vote for us.
Anyway, brilliantly played game!
I'm amazed and extremely proud of my band mates! It's actually amazing we pulled off finishing all the songs. Our schedules were heavily against us. We have 5 huge opinionated egos, and after 8 songs by committee we still like each other. (well I like them anyway).
I thought the judges, though not punctual, were rather good this year too! Those were some of the best challenges, and great titles!
It's also nice to discover Milo Dunderville (LMNOP) and Chris Cogott along the way.
Anyway, it's been a pleasure!

Congratulations Boop Boop! Thanks to all involved for another amazing Nur Ein. Next year, though, if I post "I'm in!" to the boards, please smack me over the Internet.

Congrats, Ben, and to everyone -- I learned a lot, and it got me past a personal songwriting goal I'd never been able to crack before, so I'm grateful. Onward and forward. When's the next one?
