Post by Spintown »

The time has come for another go around. I updated the rules, made a draft of the schedule, and posted the sign up info. Hope to see many of you in round 1.

In.

Who's with me?

... oh, this is going to overlap with FAWM, isn't it? That is, supposing I last that long.

It is also going to overlap with SONGFIGHT.

Yeah it'll overlap with FAWM, but anything you write for SpinTunes can also be used for FAWM. No real conflict there. Same with Song Fight depending on the challenges we come up with this time.

The problem with this competition overlapping with FAWM is that keeping up with FAWM is likely to distract participants from bringing their A-game to the Spintunes entry. Doesn't matter, though; I'm in.

And Spud: everything overlaps with Songfight. :P

Yeah Jon, but sometimes it doesn't rub me the wrong way as much when it actually has something to do with Songfight, or Songfighters.

If SongFighters enjoy & compete in it...it has something to do with SongFight.

The fact that there is always a songfight is what made the horrible thing that was 2011 get-through-able.
All the contests are different, but Songfight is the friend who takes my calls at 3 in the morning :) I've written over a dozen sets of lyrics for some of these titles :)

Among the Songfighters who've participated in Spintunes are DJ Ranger Den, Noah McLaughlin, both Durand brothers, and myself. Spintown was actively posting on the Songfight boards when he came up with the idea, which was inspired by Nur Ein. Songfighters have also been judges of the competition, such as Niveous, Glennny, Glenn Case, and this time around, Denise.

Seems perfectly relevant to me. Or about as much so as Nur Ein.

For what it's worth, I prioritize Song Fight over other generic competitions. :D

well, I'm here because we got shafted over at songfu... And I just want to hang out and write songs, Spin saw me forlornly whining and kicking rocks and told me about Nur Ein. And now I love it and have read so many back threads I feel like a stalker. :)

Chris Cogott, Young Stroke, Graham Porter, Boffo Yux Dudes, David Ritter, Caleb Hines & JoAnn have all competed in Nur Ein or Song Fight as well.

I have no problem when songfighters want to talk about video games. I have no problems when songfighters want to talk about movies. I have no problem when a songfighter wants start a cover fight, or promote his/her latest CD. My problem is that Spin and his sidekick aren't songfighers. Hell, they aren't even musicians. It's like going into the AT&T store and pitching T-Mobile. Meh. I guess I'm just old fashioned. On the other hand, I'm not trying to upset the apple cart here. You guys are having fun - it's all good. I won't be around forever. Things change. I should have just stayed out of it.

1. The sidekick isn't involved in the running of SpinTunes. What he does in his free time is up to him, if he decides to review Song Fight, SpinTunes or Masters Of Song Fu I just blog it cause I find it entertaining.

2. Maybe I'm not a Song Fighter (idk), never really thought of myself as one, but it doesn't say I need to be to post here or join in the fun.

3. The fact that I'm not a musician would be important if I was trying to compete...simply organizing an event doesn't take musical chops.

I fear it's the other way around, JB. I will likely be managing it until it dies.

How could you forget Jack Meeoff? He gives the winner of spintunes a reach around. Image
