Vote for me on FeedBands!

Links and other hanky panky that doesn't have to do with anything in particular.

Vote for me on FeedBands!

Post by fluffy »

So, I submitted a song from my new album to Feedbands, and rather than be ignored or quietly rejected, they actually accepted me into the voting system within a few hours. So I guess I finally made some much that someone likes! Yay!

Anyway, it'd be really helpful to me if everyone could go to feedbands.com and vote for my song, "feed," which you do by navigating the godawful site in this way:

1. Click on "stream"
2. Search for "sockpuppet"
3. Select "feed"
4. Click the thumbs-up button
5. Create an account because they require that and stuff

Anyway while you're there you should also vote for other songs you like that should go onto vinyl and if you are vinyl-inclined you could also buy the records they produce. But that part's optional. (I use their monthly subscription service which is awesome.)

It's a cool song, fluffy! I like the mellow chiptune vibe, and it's beautifully paced.

I've never heard of this service before. I may try submitting some of my songs too at some point soon.

Thanks. This whole album is about me going back to my roots but with the advantage of everything I've learned about making music in the last 15 years.

And yeah, FeedBands is a great service. It's like Columbia House, but for indie vinyl, released monthly. I've been subscribing since pretty much the beginning and I've yet to be disappointed, although it definitely runs the gamut of my tastes.

I was also looking into doing vinyl via Qrates but I didn't get a good feeling about a lot of things with them, so I'm going to wait a while before trying them out.

I voted. Looks like an interesting site. You're right, it's navigation sucks. It took me 20 minutes just to register. After they finally accepted my name, they said my captia didn't match. But there wasn't a new captia even appearing on the page! So I started all over. Then it said that name is being use. Who the hell is using billyslittletrip? Me, that's who. So I did the forgot password. Nope! I did the forgot username, nope! I finally said fuck it, but checked out their youtube channel and watched an old guy in a toga kill the big record company with his mystical Gibson SG. It was goofy, but I liked it.
So I logged off da webz, got some coffee and tried again. Success!

But I don't want vinyl. I'd have to go buy a turntable, set it up.......it would be this whole thing! First world problems. :P

Yep! Although there's a HUGE gap between me and #3 right now. Rock the vote, people!

EDIT: Wait, no there isn't. But there's a HUGE gap between #3 and #2 right now.

I tried several times to navigate to a registration. No links would take me there. I can try again later, but it's not a user friendly site.

Yeah it's... kind of terrible? They've been working on improving it but it still leaves a lot to be desired. (And it's WAY better than it was a month ago.)

How strange. I don't exactly like their site design, but I didn't have any trouble registering or finding you. The Streaming player didn't work for me at first, but then I realized that I had plugins disabled. I whitelisted feedbands.com and everything worked like a charm.

Anyway. We're pulling for you, fluffy.

I found sockpuppet right away. But I had to put his name in the search bar. No biggie, but it would be cool to see a current contest with a list of the bands. I know they do have that because jon posted above. I didn't find it after several clicks, so I just hit the thumbs up as I listened to the song.

I think you can normally get to it with https://feedbands.com/stream/charts but that doesn't seem to always go to the right place. Or work.

Also I take back what I said earlier, the only big gap is between #1 and #2. Which is more to say that #1 probably has legions of fans voting for them and everyone else is just like... couple of friends, couple of random listeners. Hmm.

I just learned two important things:

1.) There is a direct linking mechanism. https://feedbands.com/stream/sockpuppet/feed

2.) Also, I'm up there now too. https://feedbands.com/stream/joneric/le ... e-repeated

You don't need to be signed in for the links to work, but of course you do need to be signed in to give a song the ol' thumbs-up.

I'd appreciate it if anyone who signed in to help fluffy would do that same favor for me. Assuming, of course, that you have heard the song and like it.

I submitted another song from the new album (Sliced by a Mandolin) and it, too, was accepted. Vote for that one too if you would be so kind.
