The reviews have been appreciated everyone. There are so many bands in this one, much respect. I have mine partially done and will post them when I can finish.
I ran into a computer problem and lost over 20 tracks of "History Of A broken Heart", and had to start over from square one. I did finish and have a guy we all know and love singing on it, and you guys have never heard him like this. Now I have until Wed to finish my VU cover, so my reviews will be late.

It certainly wasn't meant to sound like an insult. It had a live 'feel' not to be translated into 'bootleg recording'. I've listened to it again and now I can kind of hear the compression on the vocal track keeping it a bit more steady than a live performance would allow.

Hey Hoblit, thanks for the review and giving the song a good listen. Its not that it was out of my range or anything, i was strainging, but for different reasons. drinking and what not. at any rate thanks for the review!!

yeah hoblit, i appreciate the kind words. I'm definitely gonna clean the song up and maybe rerecord it once i get some compression for the vocals.

Some quick reviews.

4 AM Cig: Marred by bad production. "Yeah Yeah" is never good to just throw into a song.
ADD Music: It's a fun one for the crowd but its a shopping list song and those wear thin.
The Anchors: Quite enjoyable. Cute little guitar riff driving this one. Good work.
AWHAM+Hoblit: It's a boring song. It needs something to spice it up.
Bad Cactus; Decent song. The lyrics are a little weak in some places. I wanna hear more from you, just with a better bandname.
Big Matt Hyatt: A WreckdoM off shoot goof.
BLT: Musically really strong with a good choice of effects but it's a lyrical mess, especially all the drawling "aaahh"s.
Blues Train Blues Industry: Experimental wank that failed.
Blumptown Singers: This is cute. It makes me miss Doscientos. Short and effective.
Booty C. 3: Great musicianship but the talked vocals kill this for me. But BC3 gets better every fight.
Chris Cusack: Wish the mix on the two vocals was the same but it's not a bad tune.
DJ Big Dick: Experimental slop with no cohesion.
EoA: Something is really off with this mix. It's like you're singing in the corner of a room while the pianist is across the room and he has the mic. I can see potential though.
Flvxxvm Florvm: The chord progression wears thin very very quickly.
Gurdonark: Experimental stuff that just missed the mark. Still better than some of the other experiments I've encountered today.
HGUV: So so. Nothing spectacular, nothing loathesome.
Hedonistic Calculus: Awesome. My favorite so far.
Hoblit+AWHAM: Didn't I already hear this and it was better then?
Iron Man Bobby Graham: Missed the mark. By alot.
Flapjack: Most unrelated banter ever. Better live than studio. Still it gets old too quick.
Ken's SDBnS: Get thee to the studio verily. Record this. This has potential to be a Ken classic.
King Arthur: Well produced and catchy, in other words standard King Arthur thoroughfaire
Lord of Oats: Oh damn. There are some bad vocal flubs in this one. It really hinders a song with some decent sounds. I like the solo.
LSK: Step one-take LSD Step two-Press Record
Lyricburglar: Good job, Cara....I mean Lyricburglar. I like this arrangement. It's very warm and inviting to the ear.
MC Eric B: Outshined, outshined, outshined, outshined. Good lyrics, done better elsewhere.
MC Wino: The song has a lot of potential but he choices when it comes to which notes to stress boggle me.
Melvin: A lame Melvin song. It was bound to happen sometime.
Paco Del Stinko: Just not my cup of tea at all. Good production but just not the song for me. The comedy is lost on me.
Puadxe: Clean crisp g^2. I dig it, but it's hella short. I thought that something happened to the stream at first.
Ross Durand: Musically this is some Allman Brothers b-side but the vocals are very weak.
SKD: Very boring electronic instrumental.
Brainpipe: Crazy production is a neagtive but there is a hell of a lot of potential here.
Steve Durand: Oh...the other Memphis. That was okay.
Urine Luck: Wait, what happened I sneezed and the song was over.
Wages: This kinda drags. There's nothing horrible here but nothing exciting either. It just lumbers on.
Weakest Suit: I like the vocals (very 90's alternative) but it's got no hook.
WreckdoM: I dig the feel of this one but it's too damn short to catch on.
XTRG: It's technocountry. :)

Sorry everyone, I never reviewed nor voted, but my vote would have gone to The Anchors. Their track is the one that made me stop what I was doing and go find out who I was listening to and pay close attention on repeated listens.

My other favorites were Ross Durand (very Tom Waits), Steve Durand (best use of title), Melvin (short and Awesome), and Paco Del Stinko (it goes very well after All Tan , you need to make a complete fake live album)
Phillipso, Older Brothers, Semolina Pilchards, Zipline , Thank Glennny for the Frisbee, The Odoriferous Valley, The Worldly Self Assurance, Berkeley Social Scene, Very Gentle Knives, Daddy Bop Swing Set, GUNS, The Kraken Lives, Cavedwellers

Let's hear it for entry-level champions! It was probably that solo that put it over the edge.

King Arthur: It sounds like you've got an audio engineer training under your belt. It's not my favorite style but I'm really diggin' this song! You sound like a pro. Kudos on the git-fiddlin' too. Yours is one of three that's going into my music library. Thanks for a great tune!

Thanks! I actually do have an AA in "audio production technology" and my friend Lewis, who did the mixdown on this one, is in that same program. He'll appreciate your comment!

Thanks to everyone who has done reviews, and especially whoever it was who voted for honky-tonk KA!

Apparently pretty good chances.
I was feeling a swingy, bluesy, punky kind of thing. I had a message telling me that I should do a whole song with just the quiet parts, lol.
Thanks Blue, Booty is sounded pretty damn sweet too.

Thanks for the reviews again, people.

KA - You're right about the line not fitting and EQ'ing is something I keep working on.

Hoblit - I am psyched that you enjoyed the song and just hope you don't feel like you (and one other person) wasted your vote on me if you did indeed go that route. Thanks, if so, and I hope I don't scare you away too soon.

Niveous - I don't know if I'll ever have a song for you, but it seems like anytime I do anything that even remotely reeks of country, you pop up to review it. I'm thinking of a couple of Dead Milkmen references you've tossed at me in the past year+, and am in no way complaining. Glad you gave it a go, though.

Glennny - I've done that fake live thing a bunch and will put it away until next year, assuming that I don't attend the live fight. If I do attend the live fight, I anticipate much less audience enthusiasm. sniff.

See ya'll at the Broken Heart fight!

No, don't put it away. I was going to suggest that you do it on every entry, lol. I love it, it makes me smile. It's always nice to be entertained, and you are a damn funny guy. Keep writing new shtick for the old guy, he cracks me up. I'd love him to introduce BLT one of these fights, if you don't mind.

Dang. Thanks for the vote!

And thanks to everyone who reviewed -- good or bad. I'd much rather know if something stinks. Seems like this is the bunch that will tell you straight up.

I'm out for the Broken Heart fight but I'll definitely throw down as soon as I can.
