Re: 9th Annual Gift of Music
Jim is correct in his interpretation of the address! I have received 6 entries thus far. Seven if I count my own.
I realized that the OpenTape interface is not built to accommodate the levels of information we normally include in our GOM stuff -- so I will likely make two pages for your enjoyment. One an Opentape (I just love that clean interface) and one a regular old page that includes the blah blah blah.
Unless, of course, one of you smarter-than-me, Turing-Test-impaired robots wants to undertake recoding the Opentape parameters. My coding skills are limited to cut, paste, and steal -- and altering this is beyond my ken.

Re: 9th Annual Gift of Music
OK dudes and dudettes!
Thus far, I have9 songs 10 songs ready to go live first thing tomorrow... unless I get a stay of execution.
I'll keep adding to the collection as I receive stragglers. I know there are some others out there that are complete, but not yet in my top secret inbox. So send 'em on to me!
I don't have any way to know or indicate who was done on time, and who was not, and frankly, that doesn't really bother me. If it's done, I'm happy.

Ray, that's actually my physical address on the W.A.S.T.E. system. You'll have to deliver the song on wax cylinder by carrier pigeon.
Hey! Check it out! Gift of Musics, Yo!

or, if you prefer a non-flash interface with all the bells and whistles:

Please let me know if stuff is broken. I have a helluva cold and I may not have tied all the links correctly, etc.
Also, keep sending me your songs. I will add them to the list as they come in.
Cheers!

Re: 9th Annual Gift of Music
Oh, hey, stragglers... don't to forget to include the "I did this for this songfighter" and "this band did it first" info for me.
The easiest way to accomplish this is by forwarding the email you sent to Eddie... the one that has all that info already in it.

Heh! Boffo Yux, You've Done A Lovely Cover. That is truly bizarre.
Funny - when Bon died, I don't remember Peter Noone being suggested as a replacement, but you have demonstrated it could have worked!

I'm delighted, BBABM. such a nicely done and emotive piece of work. And the proper depth-ful singing. *sigh*
So very pleased..

Ahh! Not at all. Sorry, didn't mean to sound grouchy.anti-m wrote:I am happy to take your submission down if you'd prefer to wait on Eddie.
I was just surprised to see that a whole different thing was happening now.
Thanks for doing this, by the way.

Re: 9th Annual Gift of Music
No worries -- but this does beg the question -- anyone hear anything from Eddie? I'm not WORRIED exactly, but perhaps concerned? It's weird that we've heard nothing from him at all...bgm wrote:Ahh! Thanks. We were quite proud of that one, and it was hard waiting the 3 weeks before it was revealed, but we wanted it to be a surprise for you.Caravan Ray wrote:Heh! Boffo Yux, You've Done A Lovely Cover. That is truly bizarre.

Re: 9th Annual Gift of Music
Awesome! Many thanks to anti-m for hosting and for providing an fantastic "mopey" and "folky" cover of one of my favorite songs. The lyrics on that one are so damn mopey that I don't think you had any other choice!

Re: 9th Annual Gift of Music
I'm so glad! I hadn't fully read every post in the thread until after submission, and your post specifically about someone choosing this song had me a little scared. I was belting out in what may have been the lowest register I've ever had to sing in... I knew it needed to be big. The guitar was basically me strumming the chord as fast as possible with a 1/16th note delay cranked to 11, I then cut it up and arranged it. I wanted to add some more vocals, but I broke my mic. Happy February!RangerDenni wrote:I'm delighted, BBABM. such a nicely done and emotive piece of work. And the proper depth-ful singing. *sigh*

Does anyone else think "Be Back in a Minute" every time they see BBABM's user name?

Anti - perhaps you should PM blue, j$ and LSK and have them send you their completed entries?
I actually have tracks recorded now but am still a ways off. Hopefully not too much longer.

Got LSKs, and J$ is in transit, once he gets a minute to resend.Albatross wrote:Anti - perhaps you should PM blue, j$ and LSK and have them send you their completed entries?

(BTW FWIW BBQ, I will take my pages down once Eddie reappears -- it was not my intent to usurp... only to assist.)
+Mr. Inevitable -- I'm glad you liked! The lyrics are indeed a bit of the bitter, but they are clever, so I feel they escape the "mopey." Perhaps not in my particular rendition, but, you know, in the original.
