I forget whether or not I have posted in this thread. In case I haven't: The Beach Boys. But you knew that.
Funny story. Once, when we were complaining that Stubs' lyrics were getting a little esoteric, he suggested that we feed him some words, and he would write a song about them. The title that week was "Tiny Room", and he asked us for the name of a person, a place, and a thing. I gave him Brian Wilson, Racine, Wisconson, and a chair. He wrote about a tiny Brian Wilson museum in Racine that had in it one chair that no one ever sat in because no one ever came to the museum. I refused to record it. In retaliation, he wrote a children's song about a fuzzy bear and rabbit and stuff. In retaliation for that, I wrote the hardest rocked out music that my skills and instrumentation would allow. This proved to be a breakout track for Octothorpe. Check it out.
