I forget whether or not I have posted in this thread. In case I haven't: The Beach Boys. But you knew that.

Funny story. Once, when we were complaining that Stubs' lyrics were getting a little esoteric, he suggested that we feed him some words, and he would write a song about them. The title that week was "Tiny Room", and he asked us for the name of a person, a place, and a thing. I gave him Brian Wilson, Racine, Wisconson, and a chair. He wrote about a tiny Brian Wilson museum in Racine that had in it one chair that no one ever sat in because no one ever came to the museum. I refused to record it. In retaliation, he wrote a children's song about a fuzzy bear and rabbit and stuff. In retaliation for that, I wrote the hardest rocked out music that my skills and instrumentation would allow. This proved to be a breakout track for Octothorpe. Check it out.

Radiohead, obviously.

Spud: That song reminds me of "heavy" TMBG ;)

The Beatles, but after further thought, the Beatles.

Then Queen and Camper van Beethoven.

They Might Be Giants.

Second place will forever be contested by Matthew Good Band, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, and The Pillows.
