I've been really into the New Pornographers this week and am excited to hear their new album In the Morse Code of Break Lights. I see a SUPER DELUXE edition of the Beatles' Abbey Road is also out. The video for Here Comes the Sun was very touching and sounded great in headphones. I'll definitely check out Sturgil Simpsons' SOUND AND FURY. What else should I listen to today?

I'm going to go see the New Pornographers tonight! With Lady Lamb! A friend had an extra ticket. I'm just starting to listen to the new album now.

I will probably also listen to Coltrane's "Blue World"... I don't really get jazz but I keep trying to. :)

I listened to Tough Crowd by Nervus. Really good punk rock, with super-chunky guitars.

Was planning to check out a bunch of other things on a long train ride but got sidetracked by podcasts. But on my list were:
New Pornographers
65daysofstatic
Moon Duo
Tegan and Sara
Telefon Tel Aviv

Not sure if I'll get around to it... but looking at the release list, I'd be interested in checking out the following (in no particular order): Alessandro Cortini – VOLUME MASSIMO, High Command – Beyond the Wall of Desolation, NETHERBIRD – The Vast Uncharted, Opeth – In Cauda Venenum, SIFTING – The Infinite Loop, Tegan and Sara – Hey, I’m Just Like You, Foals - Into the Surf, Saul Williams - Tomorrow Reveals Today & Borknagar - True North. However some release dates seem to be conflicting... I believe all albums were released between 24-27, but some physical copies don't come out until later...

Go back in time and find (s) by Kissing Book

Failing that, get Ezra Furman’s latest, 12 Nudes, and turn the volume to 11

Definitely checking out Sturgil. And I'm checking out the new Samantha Fish album (blues/blues rock which was released either the 27th or the 20th) now.

New Tegan & Sara! New Tegan & Sara! New Tegan & Sara! Happy face happy face happy face.
I heard that this album is made of songs they wrote when they were teenagers and decided to rerecord.

Yep. It's to go with a memoir they've written called "High School". I've been a fan since the very first album (thanks to early internet bulletin boards Napster) so am pretty excited.

I finally listened to The New Pornographers' album ... and I have to say I'm not blown away. I love the band so I had high hopes and I thought it was just fine. :/ Some of the songs had a weird thing going on where it was like really high energy but in a way where it just felt like the same thing happening the whole song and so it actually wound up being a little boring.
