Happy Hanukkah, y'all. Today's day 4/night 5. I'm almost out of latkes. I have mixed feelings about that.

Happy Hanukkah--and wait a minute do you traditionally get to eat latkes for 8 days straight (if you're not out of them)? That sounds amazing and way better than Christmas food.

Re: Happy holidays and 2020!
Happy holidays and the new year can’t get here fast enough for me.
Went to my in-laws for a week over Christmas. Lost a credit card, broke my Kindle, and I caught my son’s Hand Foot and Mouth disease which gave me a high fever just in time for the plane ride home. Oh, and my wife caught a horrific chest cold.
Now I’m sitting in my sons room because he won’t f-ing go to sleep because his little clock is f-ed up.
Looking forward to a bleary Saturday. Maybe my throat won’t hurt so much at least.

Re: Happy holidays and 2020!
I think we should use this thread for talking about any gear or software we got for whatever holidays folks may have celebrated that involved gifting.
Erin got me a Joyo American Sound pedal, which is an American Fender amp simulator that is super cheap and extremely well reviewed in terms of sound quality for the money. I'm excited to try it out for direct recording guitar at home.
I also got a couple of small pieces to add to my live analog synth setup, like, power cables and a ground loop isolator for my volcas, and a MIDI splitter.
All of that will be used in January as I attempt Jamuary/Fun-A-Day again.

Re: Happy holidays and 2020!
I have one of those American pedals, always on, at the end of my chain. It’s got great tone and my Casino’s P90 pickups light it up with grit and feedback. The Level lets me dial in my tone no matter what rig I have to use at the tiny venues we play.

Rock!
I also got an electronic gadget I very likely will never use much, something I put on my Amazon wish list and forgot about. It's a DJI Osmo Mobile 2 hand-held gimbal for smartphones. Why did I put that on there instead of more pedals?!?!

Re: Happy holidays and 2020!
I got no music-related presents, and I'm holding off on buying myself any until I have a steady income again. I really want a Focusrite Scarlett 18i10 though, in case anyone's feeling particularly generous.

Who else is using their new music equipment in this week's fight? Cause I sure am.

When my box of Twisties, Milo and Massel vegetable stock arrives from Australia, I vow to use them somehow in a song.

My Christmas gift was Lego so I have spent the week playing with Lego instead of writing a song.Æpplês&vØdkã wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 11:31 amWho else is using their new music equipment in this week's fight? Cause I sure am.

Re: Happy holidays and 2020!
I can't believe it's the last day of the 2010s! The last day of the decade, and don't be pedantic and say that's incorrect:

The people being pedantic about it are focusing on the wrong thing anyway. I mini-ranted about this on Twitter a while ago so no need to repeat myself here: https://twitter.com/fluffy/status/12094 ... 07136?s=21

Re: Happy holidays and 2020!
Happy New Year! I guess it's not 2020 quite yet for a bunch of you though. (But already old news for a bunch of you too. How's the future?)
All week I intended to go out and party to ring in the new decade, but we ended up doing absolutely nothing tonight. My husband and I went out for drinks and fries at a fancy hotel rooftop bar, then came home and lit candles and lay around with the cat and watched Unsolved Mysteries. It was pretty nice, although I feel vaguely guilty for not doing anything social.
Didn't get any music-related presents this year, but I impulsively bought myself some stuff as a Christmas present from me, to me. The radioactive pianos might make an appearance this fight if I actually write/record something in time. I also bought a ridiculous guitar. I saw this at my local guitar shop for $800, but this store has it for $300, I guess because nobody wanted to buy it haha. I feel weird about buying a guitar online, also IMO it's SO UGLY! But I feel like hopefully it will be quite fun for practicing at home and writing. Along with single coil or humbucker, it can be a 12-string or a banjo or a resonator or a nylon string or a sitar! Mostly not anything well, I think, but I think it's going to be FUN.

@owl - It's not pretty, but it sounds pretty cool. Not sure how much I'd use it, but I'd love a review after you've used it some.
Also, Happy New Year everybody.

I'll let you know what I think after I get my hands on it and have used it a bit! I looked at a few videos... some sounded awful, some sounded pretty nice.
