The Song Fight Bulletin Board

Aw man I forgot the deadline was so soon. Scrambled and wrote some lyrics this morning, will see what musical ideas flow once I hit record.

I am so sorry Jon, and my title friend. I can’t see any way that I am getting you a song in the near future. Ugh.

Honestly, I forgot all about this. But I've begun a song so hopefully I can finish it by the third.

All right, folks, it's August 2nd, and my arbitrary deadline was tomorrow.

I've received two participants' songs already, but from just about everyone else, the response seems to be that folks aren't ready. On the personal front, this has turned out to be a tough couple of weeks for me (we've had escalating difficulty managing our older dog's chronic conditions, and made the difficult to decision to put him to sleep this week).

So with that in mind, I'm going to press the emergency "Deadline Extension" button. I've tried not to build in the expectation that the deadline would be extended, which is a side effect of pressing that button too often, but it feels appropriate this year.

New deadline will be one week out from the old one. August 10th. If you've already submitted songs and would like to take the extra week to polish them a bit more, be my guest! I'll check back here a couple more times in the next week and see how we're all feeling.

I managed to get all of the music for mine recorded yesterday, so hopefully I can figure out the words before the new deadline.

Anyway, I managed to get my song recorded tonight. I guess I should keep polishing it before the new deadline, eh? I really dug the first title I received, this is fun!

My submission is in (emailed to Jon). I've also included a bonus bluegrass version of the song.

Welp. I was planning on spending today working from home, and using downtime to finish my CoT.

But now we're having another snap lockdown because of reasons, so I have a houseful of my family which will make it hard to deliver a post-punk swearsong.

Finally finished writing the song. Now to figure out how to play it in a way that might meet the (optional) challenge.

I'm gonna go ahead and call myself late (even with a week extra.) Song is written. Song is not recorded (although it's started.) Song is definitely not sung. Voice is a low gravelly phlegm encrusted failure and getting worse instead of better. I apologize. I'll get it in next weekend assuming the voice recovers enough to sing by then.

Ok, I was hoping to be finished today, but it appears I will be finished tomorrow instead. I am making a supremely dumb-fun song and enjoying it greatly.

I have my song written but not recorded yet, running behind. But I will try to finish it up tonight.

Song done. Will listen in morning and send it it. I’m 110% certain it’s EXACTLY what my title giver had in mind. For sure.

Sent mine in Tuesday, looking forward to the big reveal of everyone's songs and titles!
