i just realized the 50/50 split for me too. so i guess i also count as INFP.HeuristicsInc wrote:Introverted (I) 82% Extraverted (E) 18%

Yeah, generally on these tests I am either INTP or INFP and as you can see here I am 50%/50% split on it. So that's pretty accurate based on previous tests

I got INTJ on a previous test I took (which, as I recall, didn't have as many black-and-white obvious answers) and I feel like the description for that one fits me a lot better than ISTJ, INTP, or ISTP, which are the other three possibilities given the two 50-50s I got on this particular test.this test wrote:Your personality type is ISTJ.

Hmmmm... I'm skeptical. I found I was hitting "I'm really in-between" quite a bit.
Some of these pairs do not strike me as polar opposites. Can't ...er... somebody be both extremely perceptive AND judgemental? (Not just wishy-washy somewhere in the middle?)
(And what's all this about walking in the woods? )
On a side note, I've always wanted to take this test:
http://www.hartmaninstitute.org/html/Ha ... ofile.html
...Which I first heard about on "This American Life"
Basically, you are given a list of stuff, and you are supposed to rank the stuff in order from "most valuable" to "least valuable."
It sounds like an intriguing excercise. You aren't supposed to see the list of stuff in advance of taking the test... but if you can't resist, the list is here:

ISTP
Introverted (I) 100% Extraverted (E) 0%
Sensing (S) 64% Intuitive (N) 36%
Thinking (T) 70% Feeling (F) 30%
Perceiving (P) 59% Judging (J) 41%
The descriptions seem to be pretty close. The roughly 60/40 split on P/J is certainly the closest to having several items on each side that apply (the other test Hoblit linked to put me on the ISTJ side but P seems a slightly better fit).
Otherwise, I'm definitely introverted and tend to overthink things before acting. It took me a few hours of going back and forth deciding whether or not I wanted to actually reply to this thread (along with retaking the tests and rereading the various descriptions I could find) before I did so. I suspect those traits also contribute heavily to my low post count.

I've done this a few times, and I generally come out INTJ. The older I get, the more one-sided all the scores seem to become, I think I'm about 90/10 splits in most categories. Interesting that, although INTJ is one of the most common results, the INTJs don't seem to be very interested in discussing it here I guess we're too judgemental. Or worried that everybody else will be...

The last time I took one of these there were 5 choices, adding two more in-between slots, which I thought was a better way to do it.anti-m wrote: Hmmmm... I'm skeptical. I found I was hitting "I'm really in-between" quite a bit.

Even more interesting (to me) is that the most common results in the SF community are those that represent the smallest percentage of the population (or so I've read).
I got INTJ and was shaken by the description.

being that i always considered song fight! to be a community, i'm surprised at the number of introverts... huh. it's the whole "selective" interaction part, isn't it?
ENFP, for the record (woo! 9%!) except for the "being able to read people " part (i'm often socially dense), it's pretty much spot-on.
what i found amazing was the list of potential careers, talk about breadth:
* Consultant
* Psychologist
* Entrepreneur
* Actor
* Teacher (that's me!)
* Counselor
* Politician / Diplomat
* Writer / Journalist
* Television Reporter
* Computer Programmer, Systems Analyst, or Computer Specialist
* Scientist
* Engineer

You know what I hate about this poll (and others, like it) it seemed to be when I was doing it, 2/3rds of the questions were asking the same question, rephrased, with the idea that a yes / no / somewhere in between covers all possible responses.
Which is probably indicitative of my personality type.

INTJs are supposed to be a relatively small percentage of the general population. We seem to be a little out of proportion in this poll.
Edit: Yeah, what Catch said.

here's another good site for descriptions of these personality types. i fit this one pretty well (even if it makes me sound like an uptight masturbator[which is pretty accurate]).
