An Old Player

To celebrate the 837th day since my last Songfight submission (as Puce, at least), I am changing my forum name to one that I don't hate. Out of pure coincidence, it also happens to be my real name.

I'm almost inspired to change my name to Andrew Reist - I'm a bit embarassed of 'jolly roger', to be honest. However, with my few entries, I managed to disgrace my real name in the realm of SF.

I say don't fall into the Smashing Pumpkins trap where you make up a name and then end up stuck with it even though you think it's ridiculous.

Welcome back Adam! TAFKA Puce.

Yeah, it was the embarrassment factor that got me.
Them: So, you record music, eh? What's you're band name.
Me: Um... Puce
Them: "Puce"? Why "Puce"?
Me: Um, I don't know.
Them: Oh.
Me: Also, please don't google my old songs.
That and at SF live shows it gets pronounced 3 different ways.

Hey, JR, you should join us! All the Canadians are doing it.

Although my band name has personal attachment, I'm inclined to join you guys, because every thing I've done here at SF, except for a few that included my band members, has been a solo detachment from my past. Not that I don't like my past, in fact I love it, just that it was time to try new things. I don't want to use my real name, only because I like interesting band names and my name is very uninteresting. My last name, Dienst, is kind of cool because no one pronounces it right. Pronounced, Deanst.

I could live with BLT.

If I had the ability to type it, that would be cool. I'm really considering changing my name though. I wish my last name was cooler though - nobody knows how to spell or pronounce 'Reist'. Nobody gets famous with a last name like that.

As much as I am lamenting the fact that one of my favorite artists is no longer going to be named after one of my favorite colors, if this means you'll be fighting again, this is great news. I don't think you were being totally straightforward with me about that war thing. But then, I'm never sure what's going on.

Real name, eh? Does your driver's license have the exclamation point too, or is that just used for stylistic effect here?

Let me get your new collection started.

I love you, Adam!

Or are you not going to do that this time? I'm jumping in without knowing the back story or anything. Perhaps you should explain your position on this.

Yes - I've never been happy with my name either. Not really embarrassing, but hastily conceived. There was my experiment of a few years ago of re-branding myself as Tex Beaumont, but then I discovered there already was a recording artist by that name - so my Tex only re-appears now for Nur Ein. My wife recently suggested I use the name Tex Bonobeaumont - due to my somewhat unnatural fascination with the sex lives of bonobos - I like that idea, it could have legs.

Oh, so you're doing it wrong and everyone else is right, then. :)

My last name has at least three valid pronunciations, so it's kind of a toss-up. Usually I just vary the spelling depending on what part of the world I'm in. Lavigne in Canada, Levin in eastern Europe, etc.; when in Rome, you know.
