If Niv says so, it shall be done.

You now have until the end of the month to make your voting decisions.

Oh, perfect! Now that I've made all kinds of hasty voting decisions, you go and extend it!

Well, I'm glad I brought this up, even if I lose more of the contests than I was going to. (I mean, what good is a victory in this round if it was like 1-0 in your favor?)

With 4 minutes until the official deadline, I must say that we have a couple of first on our hands.

1. The "Head", "Dirty Mind" and "Do It All Night" titles may be won by default at this rate. I have only gotten one entry for each of those titles.

2. "Sister" may become the first title that no one has submitted a song for.

Based on this, I think the songs may be a day late because I am going to need to consult with Niveous on where we go from here. Do we extend the deadline a little to ensure that each title has a minimum of two entries? Do we just post what we have? These are bridges we have not needed to cross before until now.

ROCK!

i have been keeping an eye on the tally, and it has steadily sat at 0 for the entire time, so it has been hard to gauge what needs to be done.

If you can extend the date... 5 days or so, I will have a couple of extra songs to contribute. Just push out some FAWM stuff to Purple Reign stuff.

I was thinking the same thing. Except I don't have the songs yet. And I'd be writing them for FAWM/RPM but they'd ALSO work as submissions here. Anyway, I should be able to come up with a drinking song called 'Sister', right?

Here's my personal situation and take on the whole thing. In light of the Paco challenge, I've been on heavy bed rest during January, in preparation for the frenzy that awaits. My idea was to take advantage of the gap in time zones to write and record a song for the January PRC as my first FAWM song. So that's what I did. That meant I only had time for one song. The titles are pretty good this time, and I regret somewhat that I couldn't do more. If you want to give a couple extra days, I would write a few more songs for you.

I don't really want to write for "Sister", though, and apparently, neither does anyone else. [Edit: yeah whatever] How about a Glenn vs. Niveous duel?

Okay,

So Niveous and I discussed this today and here's the plan:

There will be an extension because of low participation on certain titles. You now have until February 7th, 11:59PM (PST) to complete a song for the "Dirty Mind" titles. Feel free to use the time to tweak your mixes or make new songs.

I blame myself for being easily distracted, and not keeping updated tabs on song submissions. It was the 31st before I knew it, and I hadn't checked the e-mail account all month.

"Dirty Mind" - 1 song
"When You Were Mine" - 4 songs
"Do It All Night" - 1 song
"Gotta Broken Heart Again" - 2 songs
"Uptown" - 2 songs
"Head" - 1 song
"Sister" - 0 songs
"Partyup" - 2 songs

At the suggestion of Lord of Oats, Niveous and I are going to attempt to each write a song for "Sister" before the deadline. We'll see what happens.

The NEW titles will be posted on February the 8th, and you will have until the end of MARCH to complete songs for those titles.

Why such a long period of time? Well, February is a short month and both RPM and FAWM are going on.

ROCK!

Way funny. I think there's a cover band that also has the name. We're fully ready to call this the compilations formerly known as Purple Reign if and when that's necessary.

In the meantime, we're back at square one. We have only received two more entries since the extension was announced. Here's the new totals:

"Dirty Mind" - 2 songs
"When You Were Mine" - 4 songs
"Do It All Night" - 1 song
"Gotta Broken Heart Again" - 2 songs
"Uptown" - 2 songs
"Head" - 1 song
"Sister" - 1 song
"Partyup" - 2 songs

That's still three songs that would win by default if I post them tonight. So, it would seem that another conference with Niveous may be necessary later today as far as what we will be doing next.

ROCK!

Wow, I must have just misread something at some point. I somehow thought there was more time than this. Maybe the time just passed faster than I thought it would, but I thought I would have a day or two to work after the SF deadline...I guess not. It's not as if I didn't get anything done because I was just sitting around. I'd begun work on a couple of these songs, but a cold got the best of me and caused my recording work to grind to a halt.

If I'd have had a bit more say in the decision, (not trying to play Monday Morning Quarterback, and I appreciate that you've considered my input so far), I would have suggested something, and would still suggest, dividing February more evenly between the two sets of titles. However, I recognize that I've been given sufficient time to write to the Dirty Mind titles, and am waiving my right to complain at any decision. If you'd rather maintain momentum, I can understand why you might choose to go ahead as planned. That said, I'm not really thrilled about the idea of a default victory. I guess it's still exposure, isn't it? I trust your judgment, and I will support the project either way, especially considering that I'm not proposing any direct solution to the situation here. Oh, wait, I have an idea....get Johnny Cashpoint and Phil Wages involved again, or something.

I'd love to lend some vocals... if you don't mind them being nasal-ie. That is, I've still got sinus problems from the flu. :( This will be evidenced on my "Why So Serious", and possibly FAWM.

We have received no new songs since the last update.

Niveous and I are discussing ways to revitalize this project. It's not dead yet, but it's dying. Stay tuned.

ROCK!

Didn't the due date get extended to the end of March to avoid conflict w/ FAWM? This is why I've done nothing yet. :)
