What systems do you have?

Post by fluffy »

Which systems do you have, and how many games do you have for them?

PS1 - 12 games (mostly imports)
PS2 - 22
PS3 - 3 disc-based, and a bunch of downloadable ones

NES - 12
SNES - 4
N64 - 16
Gamecube - 6
Wii - 9 + 2 'virtual console' games (one NES, one N64)

Gameboy Color - 3
Gameboy Advance - 2
Nintendo DS - 8 (although two of them are localizations of Sprung which I would certainly not recommend)

Dreamcast - 13
Nokia N-Gage - 2

(I may have skipped a few games while counting them so those should be considered a lower bound.)

Of those I definitely play the PS3 most and the Wii in a somewhat distant second. Although I did preorder Wii Fit so maybe the Wii will take over soon.

Obviously I don't actually need the Gamecube or the GBC anymore (since I can play those games on Wii and GBA, respectively) but they're also not really worth the trouble of selling either. And I actually do need the PS1 (for imports) and PS2 (for DDR and Beatmania because getting their custom controllers to work on PS3 is spotty at best).

I still kind of kick myself for not picking up a Virtual Boy and a bunch of games when they were on clearance, since now they're quite rare and collectible. At the time I couldn't really justify $50 for a system and all the games, though, what with being a starving college student. Oh well. Also for a while I wanted to get a Jaguar just for Tempest 2000, but then I eventually just got Tempest X3 for the PS1 (which I still haven't played) which is supposedly close enough that Jeff MInter himself didn't really see much wrong with it except for a few fiddly aesthetic things that only a sheepfucker like Jeff Minter could possibly care about.

I have the PS3 and 3 or 4 games. I still have the PS2 around and a couple dozen games for it although I'm getting ready to dump off the ones that I probably won't play again. I'm not a big gamer and enjoy playing a couple times a week. I like the Blu-Ray function of the PS3, and have also recently been playing SF! fights through it as well while enjoying the colored lights that accompany the music. Wheee! I don't have a fast enough internet connection to play online, or I would join you guys for a match of something.

Past systems that I had were SNES, N64. All the games and consoles are gone. Except Goldeneye. I kept it as a 'trophy'.

Heh, just the PC. I don't really do consoles. I do have the old Nintendo but it doesn't work. Perhaps someday I will do that plug-replacement thing that I've seen on the Net. My parents have my Intellivision and I miss having that. My boss said he was going to give me one, but he hasn't yet. That slacker!

Intellivision was awesome. I never had one but my best friend in grade school did. I'd always go over to her house to play it.

I knew you had those. You also have a VIC-20 and a 6-in-1 Intellivision system-in-a-joystick thing.

Out of curiosity, how do you get the music onto the PS3? Do you manually copy it onto a thumb drive/memory stick/whatever, or do you use the "media server" functionality, or what?

If you are going to count the VIC-20 as a game system, I also have a Tandy Color Computer II, a PC Junior, the entire line of NTSC-compatible Sinclair computers (including 2 QLs), An Atari 520 ST (Gem!), an Apple II (//?), and that's just off the top of my head. I have games for all of these, because they tend to come with games. Generally, however, I don't play them.

So far I've just been plugging in the Boss Micro via USB. I haven't tried to store anything on it yet. So I guess playing the songs through it might be a better way to say it. I have a memory stick, I'll give that a try.

Now:
PS1 - Haven't touched it in years. Sold/lost all my games except 1 (Driver) which I use as a trigger disc for the...
PS2 - All tricked out with network adapter/HDD and I use the memory card exploit to play games off the HDD. I think I have like 50 games loaded on it. Sadly, it's collected dust for quite a few months, the last game I really got into on it was the Katamari series.
PSP - Firmware exploited. I have like 50 or so games on my computer's HD. Haven't touched it in a while either.
Then:
NES - Usually just rented games for it.
SNES - Replaced the NES, which stopped loading games. Mostly rented games.
Dreamcast - Found 2 of these at a thrift store for 20 bucks. Discovered that the copy protection scheme was really terrible, and downloaded probably 100 game isos. Gave one to my daughter because she loves the Sonic games, and ebayed the other for quite a bit more than I paid for it :)

At this point in my life, I am discovering that I'm not much of a gamer. I'm more interested in exploiting the hardware than actually playing games.

Yeah, I know, I was young and stupid and my friend had a shiny new Sega Saturn that I wanted... So we swapped... Stupid idea... especially since it was Mint, with a Hard Shell case, hell I even had that Jack Bros. game for it, which is supposed to be super rare? If I could go back, I would never have done that deal...

I actually bought the QD version (which came out some time later), because I wanted a cheap Series 60 smartphone, which the N-Gage QD was actually pretty good as. The two games I have for it are Tony Hawk (the pack-in game, which sucked) and Super Monkey Ball (which was actually pretty good, although of course nowhere near as good as the Gamecube version).

The phone itself doesn't work anymore, incidentally.

Oh yeah, I also have a Tapwave Zodiac, a gaming-oriented Palm OS device, which I bought because it had more features than the Palm TX and was somewhat cheaper. Of course then Tapwave went out of business leaving me entirely without support or firmware updates, making it less useful than a Palm TX.

Systems I have now:
PS1
PS2
X-Box
X-Box 360

Systems I HAD:
NES
SNES
Gameboy (the original way back in 1990)

I don't wanna count how many games I have right now. But a good estimate is about 25 PS1 games, 12 PS2, 15 X-Box, and 4 360 games although I have another 20 on Live. HAD about 20 NES games, 15 SNES games, and maybe 10 gameboy games at the most.
From spoken word to actual singing, I can screw up any style with style. :D

SNES, PS1, PS2, original Gameboy, DS

Mostly I play the PS2.

Ain't got none-a-them newfangled current-gen systems yet. If I did, I think I'd go with the Wii.
