That is cool. I'd like to try it too.
Just yesterday I was reminded of how every little change around my mic changes the sound and quality. And with condenser microphones, even more so.
I had my mic on the stand sort of facing the corner as I often do. But I was hitting a loud part in my vocals, so I wanted to move my mic stand so I could watch the lights on my firebox to make sure I wasn't peaking. Sure enough, the first set of vocals sounded different from the ones I did by simply moving my mic 3 feet back from the wall.

It's not super-cheap, but if you're too lazy or inept (like me!) to go the DIY route, these are s'posed to be pretty good (haven't tried one myself).

There are some more similar items listed in this post, but like the non-DIY one mentioned above, they're a bit pricey. When somebody first mentioned the DIY one in the first post in this thread I went to try to buy some of the collapsable containers, but the site didn't necessarily have the right ones. It was hard to tell if the ones they had were the collapsible kind or not. Have you ordered them, JB? Or something similar?

I made one of those last month based on his specs. I'll post a photo if anyone cares. Bought the box from target.com and the foam online, then the small mic stand from musicians friend.

Used this on my client no 9 entry.

I think the containers are just this sort of thing, from Target: http://www.target.com/gp/search/601-321 ... _1&x=0&y=0

Frankly, a cardboard box should work. the key is surrounding it with the acoustic foam, which you can get for fairly cheap on Ebay:

Yep exactly what I used. These work out pretty well. Not perfect but TONS better then without.

Okay, I just bought all the stuff so this better work, JB! I will have extra foam and an extra box if you want some/one.

And that's MOBILE ROCK UNIT, Roy. Mobile Recording Unit--who ever heard of such a thing!

You guys are all good singers, don't you sing while standing? Isn't that the preferred method? Do you put the mic box on a shelf? What's going on here? I like the one Obs posted, but the price of the others is much better.

Wow, Roymond, you make me feel like such a tard for bailing out of Morning On Bourbon just because I'm in a camp. Does anybody else have severe issues with recording vox when they know the walls are paper thin?

Didn't someone post a picture of a sound proof box with a mic in it that you put over your head? Or was that just another one of my incredible Earth shattering inventions that I haven't had time to get around to yet? :P

Hey, make sure you take some Video while you record your vocals if you do use that device... I want to see it in action! ;)

Here I am totally getting into it. I can't break the habit of holding my headphones. Kind of a phantom limb thing I guess.
