I would be willing to take the lead on booking a BandSpaces room for us on the afternoon of the 10th (Friday). I could pay for it and anyone who wants to chip in can give me some cash while we're there. I need to know a few things first:
1. How many bands would be interested in doing a Friday afternoon practice? Obviously, the more bands that want to use the space, the longer we'll need it.
2. Can we get our hands on some instruments that afternoon? The spaces come equipped with drums and amps, so we don't need to worry about that. I need two guitars and a bass for my set, but (depending on who wants to practice), other instruments may be needed.
Uh...anything else I'm not thinking of?

I'm in, if that's cool. I'll be in the city all day that Friday, and I can play drums competently, and on beat. I'll bring the acoustic/electric (if anyone needs it) and my drum sticks.
My Google-fu is strong tonight. I just found this place: Empire Rehearsal Studios. Easily accessible by public transit, cheaper than BandSpaces, and it looks nicer. I jumped on it and booked us a room from 2 to 6 PM on Friday the 10th. See you there!

If I promised to play on anyone's set, attention...at this point I arrive back in NYC late Friday night. If my team finishes up in Houston early, I'll be jumping on an earlier flight, but I have no idea when I would know such a thing. As a result, my set is likely going to be G&G. Maybe drums. I'm really sorry for this (after not traveling much all year this came up right at the wrong time!) If there's a rehearsal Saturday before the gig I'm up for it (family has written me off for the weekend). Also, if anyone needs back up for the live fight...that too.
Fluffy - bring song charts and you still have me on bass (or did you email a link? I'll check).

I just sent PMs to everyone who expressed interest in using the rehearsal space I got for Friday, including how to get a hold of me. If you are interested, and haven't received a PM from me, let me know...

Argh, I'm having a pretty sudden flareup of carpal tunnel problems, which of course always happens at the worst possible time. I should be okay but folks who have me on their set should make a contingency plan just in case.
that's good to hear. i got a couple troubled pms for 2nd string drums, and though i would be happy to oblige, i would be much happier getting to watch.
Hey, I still need a couple of backup singers. Three songs. Anyone up for it?

oh by the way my wrists are feeling a lot better now so I should be fine for the show
I mean, if you were physically able to sing and drum at the same time, I'd have no objection to it. I just assumed that drumming is hard enough without trying to sing, too.
(It always makes my blood boil when I see how easy Levon Helms makes it look when he sings "Up On Cripple Creek" while drumming in The Last Waltz.)
