I LOVE Adventure Time. I'm jealous that my kids get to grow up with wonderful shows like this but I feel fortunate that I get to watch it with them. :)

Adventure Time is what happens when the kids who fell in love with cartoons and saw them as an art form grow up.

I couldn't agree more.

Oh and it's also what happens when grownups remember that kids are smart and don't have to dumb stuff down for them.

I haven't ever watched the show with kids, so I'd be interested to know if "I Remember You" had as big an emotional impact on them as it did on me. (Because that episode makes me cry.)

It was the emotional equivalent of a punch in the gut. All three of us were sitting there stunned during their final song.

"is it just you and me in the wreckage of the world?"
"I need to save you, but who's going to save me?"
"Please forgive me for whatever I do, when I don't remember you"

I've never heard of it, but I just checked out the wikipedia on it and it sounds like something I must see. Thanks for the tip, fluf. :)

edit: yep, I like it. I just watched the first youtube of it that came up. The dogs voice is for sure Bender and the boy sounds like it might be fry. I haven't researched this show enough yet.
This is the one I just watched.

Maybe post your fav clip?

My favorite clip would be spoileriffic and wouldn't make much sense out of context anyway.

Finn is not voiced by Fry (Billy West). But they do have a lot of famous voice actors. Ice King is voiced by the same actor as Spongebob and the Mayor of Townsville, for example, and they've had George Takei and Emo Phillips in recurring cameos.

Unfortunately Cartoon Network's reruns are in pretty much random order and mostly from the fourth season, so that kind of screws with the story arc. It's better to go back and watch it from the beginning in order (via DVDs or torrents or whatever).

I'll look on netflix for the season dvds

edit:
Damn, a lot of requests for instant queue, but no go here. Only one bad review out of tons of positive ones. https://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Adve ... cale=en-US

Okay so this set of two badly-edited clips contains my favorite clip from the show but it contains MASSIVE SPOILERS so if you haven't watched the show and are concerned about having the most emotional impact, don't watch it yet.

Anyway I bring this up again because yesterday I learned that the musical instrument in those songs is based on a real thing! It's the Suzuki Omnichord, an electronic autoharp from the 80s, which is what the amazingly multi-talented animator/writer/songwriter who wrote that episode (Rebecca Sugar, who is now producing her own show!) used to flesh out the song, and they ended up just using her demo track for the backing lyrics.

So I'm trying to buy an Omnichord now.

You too! I've been looking for an omnichord as well ever since seeing that!

I suspect that episode of Adventure Time is why Omnichords are going for a lot more on eBay now. :)

You spoilered yourself!

I think the minimal prerequisites for seeing that episode correctly are:

- Evicted
- It Came from the Nightosphere
- Holly Jolly Secrets
- A Memory of a Memory

That was a good read, it helped me understand the characters better. And the episodes I've seen thus far, I would not think of this as a cartoon for kids. But then I thought about cartoons when I was a kid, like Bugs Bunny and Speed Racer. I still remember when I hit an age that I started understanding what they were actually about. But I still loved watching them as a kid, over and over because of the animation and the simple meaning of good and bad through the innocence of me as a child.

Nothing like toons now, and certainly nothing like Adventure time. But as a kid in an adult run world, that is limited by our size and financial limitations of a piggy bank, Bugs was the rebellion that taught me that with creativity, determination and confidence, you can accomplish almost anything. Of course watching old episodes of Bugs now as an adult, I realize he was slightly racist, lol. But not in a hurtful manner. He was Jewish, after all.

Anyone else listen to the OST from the DS game Hey Ice King Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?

The title track is fricking amazing, and the rest of the album is one of the few chip tune albums I've gotten along with.

Man I love this show. My favourite joke is also a massive end of episode spoiler so I won't post, but if I'd of been drinking milk at the time I would have spat lemonade from my mouth. That's how funny I found it.
