Re: 4/9/15 Madonna
This is a hard one. She's had too many good songs! "The Immaculate Collection, Madonna's first greatest-hits compilation album, was released in November 1990. The album was certified diamond by RIAA and sold over 30 million copies worldwide, becoming the best-selling compilation album by a solo artist in history."
"Like a Prayer" had multiple plays on my CD Walkman. I guess you can throw "Who's That Girl" and "La Isla Bonita" into the mix, too.

I'm not a big fan of Madonna, but I like "Borderline" a lot, and I think "Die Another Day" got a bad rap.

This one's easy. "Like A Surgeon".
...I was disappointed that she didn't play her accordion after she removed it from patient #27. Missed opportunities. *sigh*

Re: 4/9/15 Madonna
Like a Virgin is definitely my favorite. Oh, and thanks for the rarely-scene Weird Al music video reference! I heard Madonna's 2012 album MDNA, which has that "Give Me All Your Lovin'" song on it, and I like it almost as much as her old stuff, but not quite.

Weird! I was going to start a Madonna thread! Good call!
Live to Tell is my favorite song. I just love the melody.
Material Girl is a great song. It's my favorite one to cover especially when covered by my friend King.

Re: 4/9/15 Madonna
Probably the latter. People seem to love hating that song. I thought it was a pretty good stab at updating the James Bond Theme tropes.user wrote:This:Her eerie cover of "American Pie" is alright, too.Generic wrote:I'm not a big fan of Madonna, but I like "Borderline" a lot, and I think "Die Another Day" got a bad rap.

Also, later in the day, I remembered that "Like a Prayer" was Madonna, so that's gotta supplant my prior choice.

I know I said "Like a Virgin" is my favorite, but I forgot how ambiently soothing "Live to Tell" is!

Re: 4/9/15 Madonna
When I saw this thread title, "Like A Prayer" immediately got stuck in my head. That isn't to say that it's my favorite of her songs, because I can't stand it, but it certainly is what my brain finds the most memorable.
I guess I haven't really listened to much Madonna beyond what got overplayed on the radio in the late 80s/early 90s though.

I wasn't aware that Madonna had, like, actual songs. I though she just played a "repertoire".

Re: 4/9/15 Madonna
This morning, I was thinking about this series of DRCs and going over some of the choices i had made. When I got up to Madonna on the list, I instinctively said "Human Nature" then realized I had said "Oh Father". As much as I love the latter, my answer really should have been the former. I don't know why I had completely forgotten it that day but today, I remembered it like a reflex.
