Re: The Dream Crusher

The Dream Crusher - tomdg I had a dream of a world without borders I had a vision of life without walls In Berlin I saw how the future could be brighter Hope for tomorrow and love for us all But in 2016 that dream died We the people bought a lie And the men with the money and the suits and the ties ...

Day of the Dead by tomdg and Wub Happy birthday Rowland If I can say that when you're dead I would have liked to go to see you but I was ignorant instead Till that day you blew my mind when I was walking home with the radio on But now you sleep alone I looked you up on FaceBook but you'd already bee...

Three things struck me particularly in this one:

Billy's Little Trip: nice idea and lyrics;
Jacob Lynn: fantastically catchy chorus;
Narcaloungers: lovely voice but also a nice song.

Hard to choose just one ...

My "butterfly massacre" (tomdg) was also a response to the Iraq war (and the Afghanistan conflict, and the other things which followed 9/11): http://www.songfight.org/music/butterfly_massacre/tomdg_bm.mp3 The lyrics are still on ye olde lyric thread: http://www.songfight.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2...

I'd suggest MC Paul Denyer's "Pickle Juice". It's still going around my head and I can't walk past a jar of pickles without being reminded of it.

Chicky Chicky – I like the ABA structure. Other than that, I can’t comment on this 2/10 Evil-E - Nice groove, but an even more 60’s feel would work really well. Odd gap in the middle, it feels like the song has stopped. 7/10 Glenn of Dust Pipe – the short lines of lyrics break up the verse t...

That's just stupid. @eclectic sp00ns, Congrats on the win. Steve Wish You Were Here IS the best song ever written, and the unimaginative nature of the chords actually makes the song better by focusing attention on the lyrics. I take the idea a bit further by making everything unimaginative in order...

Ok, so it looks like no-one's going to like my song this week. For the record, I'm quite pleased with it. I was trying to mimic the style of Nuclear Assault, who did some similar songs in the 1980s - they were formed by Dan Lilker who used to play for Anthrax. My fave was "hang the pope", which had ...

Nothing Day.

Why do I always pick the most popular fight? I guess most people do, by definition.

A couple of people felt my last entry was about a minute too long. At the very worst, this week's is only 24 seconds too long. That's progress for you.

I got a vote! I really did, I didn't just vote for myself. Woohoo! And only at the third attempt. That made my day. That means that but for the vagaries of sampling (i.e. the fact that all the other people voted too) I could even have won! Whatever next?!?

Fistula - and there was me thinking the pronunciation (massacree) was a tribute to Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant". Thröat is a great name :) Is that pronounced "throw-at"? Jeff Robertson - sorry if I caused any offence on the Katrina front. The song was only supposed to cause offense to gung-h...

Ummm ... showing my ignorance here, but out of curiosity, what's GnG?

Yeah, 4:03 is really long, I apologise. And there was me thinking 3 minutes is really short and 15 minutes is a long song. I guess I've been listening to too much Pink Floyd.

Posyden - chaos theory - branch of mathematics about small things having large effects. The famous example is a butterfly flapping its wings and causing a hurricane on the other side of the world. It's obscure, but I noticed one other song mentioned it too. Yes, it's stupid to blame the butterfly, b...

tomdg is peeved at his lack of votes so he's going to be spending the weekend pulling the wings off every flying insect he can find. Or maybe he'll just submit a song called "butterfly massacre" to songfight instead. Someone else will win, I'll just be among those being massacred. 2 entries - 0 vote...

Jeff - Thanks for those tips on Audacity. I've struggled a bit with that so I'll have to try it. I'm personally not going to call anyone patronizing, it's probably clear to most people that there's a lot wrong with the two songs I've posted so far, and comments like "try ..." are why I'm here. Thank...
