Re: Look at these cool (Secret Handshake Reviews)

I'm sure G-Case will comment about the rest of the song on his own, but for Skeleton Key and Secret Handshake, these Case songs have had guitar solos from me, so thanks for your kind words and also if you have any abuse, he doesn't deserve it, I do. Which is why I'm planning to record a ten minute g...

Re: I definitely know it (Secret Handshake prefight)

You know that one of the great things about Chinese hot pot is that you can get it in the Yin Yang cauldron, which is half one soup and half a different soup, and with a divider that splits the cauldron in halves. That is sort of like two soups, one cauldron, yet they are not mixed at all (missoupge...

Mmm, two soups. My family does that every Christmas.
what's your soups?

I make a pretty mean seafood chowder. I also will always use my roast chicken carcasses for soups that are pretty awesome.

Re: I definitely know it (Secret Handshake prefight)

When someone says "two chords at the same time" I tend to think of that as a keyboard way of thinking, where I know some people don't, for example, think Fmaj9, instead they think "Fmaj triad (F A C) on the left hand and Cmaj (C E G) triad on the right hand." As a guitar player, that seemed nonsensi...

I am not in LA, but you should know that I still listen to Stronger Than because it's one of the best songs ever, so thank you.
Wow, I didn’t see this earlier, what a nice thing to say. Thanks Gozo!

One good idea every twenty years or so isn’t bad, right? :D :D :D

Re: Who is in Los Angeles?

yes, this thread has been surprisingly useless. I guess I could contact State Shirt--we're linked on other social media anyway. Maybe I can scam some sweet-ass Strymon pedals out of him hahahahahaha (I stan Strymon btw, I love my Flint and El Capistan)

Re: Don't get pricked on all of the (Porcupine Reviews)

Sure all that’s true, and there’s also the consideration of what kind of vibrato we’re talking about, as the usual cello (for me, violin) vibrato and electric guitar vibrato are quite different techniques. The subtlety vs bigness of the vibrato, as it were, change of velocity, timing, etc. While you...

Re: Don't get pricked on all of the (Porcupine Reviews)

I liked the solo, JB, it’s just ever since I got called out by the old cat about playing long sustained notes without vibrato, I started not being able not to notice it. I tend to do no do vibrato when I’m thinking too much about what to do next, so I’m not fully in the moment and details of playing...

Hedgehogs v Porcupines would be a good terrible video game for Glenn to be #1 at.

Who is in Los Angeles?

Hey Fighters,

This is mo. I was around here for a while back in the early aughts and then I moved to a different country for like, oh, 15 years or so. Now I'm back in the US and am living in Los Angeles. Who's here? I'm looking for people to play music with!

Re: The Guitar Doctor Is In

I mean either way the Dual Rec has independent master volume controls for every channel, that’s one of the things it was known for, as not every amp had that back when it came out. Without actually futzing with the amp it’s a little hard to tell if it’s an amp maintenance problem, an amp design prob...

Re: The Guitar Doctor Is In

My only note about the drummer volume thing is that if you've ever had to be on stage in an 8 person band so that you're the one who has to be next to the drummer, and your ears are more or less at cymbal level, you won't hear anything else for the next couple of days. My last keyboard player got st...

Re: The Guitar Doctor Is In

Thanks Mo and everyone. I guess I should elaborate on my use cases. Recording : no Making my 4x12 easier to manage in practice space : yes. Finding a cab or combo for infrequent gigs : yes. Enhancing my rig : no. Ok so what I'm getting from this is that you are open to any of the possibilities, whi...

Re: The Guitar Doctor Is In

I mean the Fender Princeton 112+ is a 65 watt solid state amp, very similar topography to my old Yamaha actually so pedal boosting isn’t really going to kick it into overdrive as much as just be louder. Headroom to spare, especially if you don’t get to turn it up much

Re: The Guitar Doctor Is In

I mean a Muff kind of just sounds like a Muff, big and nasty, no matter where you put it so I would guess on this case it’s all about the flavor of the Muff tone as the last thing going into the clean amp rather than as a boost per se, where I usually understand that goal as boosting the tone you’re...

Re: The Guitar Doctor Is In

Well the usual order is to have delay (time based effects, to be specific, so delays and reverbs) after gain so that you are repeating the distorted sound rather than distorting the repeats. The first way is clearer repeats, the second way can be great too but you have to be a bit more careful with ...
