Re: Be careful, they might have pens (Je Suis Charlie review
@ Jerkatorium - Thanks for review. I appreciate them. That's how you learn. @ J$. I like a good discussion... I admire CH for the guts to defy the threats. I felt more sympathy for the people in the deli, because they were just normal people going about their day. They had no warning, no threats. Wh...

Re: Be careful, they might have pens (Je Suis Charlie review
@ Nick. Thanks! Glad you liked it. @ J$. Thanks! Glad you thought the song was lovely even tho you didn't like my point of view. I had extremely mixed emotions. Murder is NOT an appropriate critical response. No ...buts... about it. It was a tragedy, and I'm sad they were shot. What is the line betw...

Re: 10/28/14 To band or not to band
I sit in with a band once every two months. Used to be couple times a week. It's covers, or somebody else's music. I'm usually bass and bgvs. Also done local musical theater. What I like about being in a band - the huge amounts of talent and creative ideas other people have. Guitarists who can shred...

Re: Jan 21, 2015
Girl/ wife/ bands/ jobs were my excuses. I could never finish a song, so I did some cover art for a few fights. Then Nur Ein VIII came around, and I said - Hey, it's just a few weeks. I didn't last very long, but I kept on with the Nein, because I was having fun, and seeing improvement. Tried a coup...

Re: Jan 21, 2015
My life seems to be constant interruptions, so my process tends to be: * Constantly carry a pen and scrap paper with me at work. Keep pen and paper handy at home. Especially near the toilet. I have a notebook so I can organize all my scraps/ recopy/ re-order/ revise. * Think about the title, and try...

Yeah, I've been at events where they put together a video of the day. It's usually a lot of stress for the video guy, who runs up at the last minute.
Enjoyed the BSS videos, Glennny. Thanks for posting those.
Theme Music looks interesting. I'm out of time. Back to digging ditches.

Re: Jan 16, 2015
Jonathan has some videos about writing a song a day, and songwriting in general. There are nine of them, and I enjoy watching them for inspiration. Nothing about his video process, but he may have written a song about it...

Re: That Stingy Michelin Man! (Three Stars Reviews)
J$ - I don't love it, I don't hate it. NMDT - How do you get your mouths to move that FAST? Nick Soma - great as usual. I really like the intro/ riff and the energy of this one. State Shirt - prechorus was stronger than your chorus. Stronger than almost everybody else's chorus. Toby - going for tend...

Re: Jan 16, 2015
Thought about how I would do video for Je Suis Charlie while working this afternoon. It would be a TON of work. I'm Guessing the finished product would be rushed, partially improvised, mostly creative, but lacking in production. I don't know how Jonathan Mann does it EVERY DAY. He either has a ton o...

Re: That Stingy Michelin Man! (Three Stars Reviews)
Cookie Blue - one of my favorite melodies this week. Glennny - it's all about the guitar. It's like a nightmare where I can finally play like I want, but I can't play anything I like. Hillbilly- touching, poignant. The "feeling" part reminds me of the Friends episode where Joey is trying t...

Re: That Stingy Michelin Man! (Three Stars Reviews)
I try to review, but I get interrupted every 30 seconds or so. I made an effort to listen to the entire Klownhole track. I usually can't. I wish there was more variation. Tyler, I was continually surprised by the turns your story took. Very stream of consciousness. BSS - Very loose this week. Consta...

I did it last year...wrote lyrics only, but had a great time. Definitely plan to do it again this year, but will probably record a simple version of each song.

The Zero Stars vid was -- well, I don't miss long rides in a broken down van. Not at all. I see this is part 1 of 9. I don't plan to watch the other 8.
Liked the song & lyrics, tho. Thanks for posting.

Re: I agree with this 100%
Anarchy's been tried in many places and it's extremely brutal to everyone. It's also inherently unstable. [Somalia. etc.] Dictatorship is the other extreme. It's extremely brutal to anyone it disagrees with or fears. But it's stable for a while. [Nazi Germany, etc.] There are many other leadership/ ...

Re: It's My Battle and I'll Cry If I Want To (REVIEWS)
Nick. So what I really like are the intro and instrumentation. Flute part is beautiful. The verses kinda confuse me. I can't understand what it's all about. Being a kid and playing king, hero, up in your room? The strongest part of the chorus was the first part: St George is by my side today... This...

Re: It's My Battle and I'll Cry If I Want To (REVIEWS)
6M v iv ugh. Sorry about that. BSS v JBB Ten seconds dead air at beginning? Oops. For me, vox seemed low, or guitar too high. Really liked chorus. Easy to get a bunch of friends to sing along to. HF Great vocals and harmonies, as usual. Will it be enough to win? Probably. iv Struggled with timing i...
