congrats to Holly & Thank Glennny ... and to me ! tied with Paco for 4th place? I'm pretty happy with that showing. Maybe I can actually win one of these things one day. Next time I'm going not going to wait until the last day and it'll probably turn out worse for the extra work. also much prop...

Re: How is asking for your fans to vote against the rules?
There are 87k students on my campus and 2500 music students. It's real easy for me to hang out by the labs and ask people, who already know me/come to my performances/follow one of the groups that I'm in, to vote - especially the ones who voted last week.

Re: "Suitcase" - PRE-FIGHT DISCUSSION/ARGUING
Gm is the vi of Bb. I - VIalt then And I don't know if you're familiar with "Baker Street," but the hook progression I'm talking about doesn't begin on I. The G in my particular instantiation is the I. So the Bb is iii, only major. And flatted. Which is why I decided to avoid that kind of...

Re: "Suitcase" - PRE-FIGHT DISCUSSION/ARGUING
why isn't your work worth $35 to you? also going I-vi I-vi I-V I -V/V is a progression that is so common it is most certainly in public domain. When we talk about standards such as 'Oleo' or 'Good Bait' do we ALWAYS give credit to Gershwin for preceding it with 'I got rhythm'? - only when we are ta...

Re: "Suitcase" - PRE-FIGHT DISCUSSION/ARGUING
If you're going to copyright songs using the $35 thing, bundle them up and copyright a group of songs as an album. Or double album. The protection is no less than if you copyrighted them one by one. The risk of being robbed between writing song #1 and song #12 is negligible, and don't worry quite s...

Re: "Suitcase" - PRE-FIGHT DISCUSSION/ARGUING
why isn't your work worth $35 to you? Why do you think registering every song for $35 is a worthwhile investment? Some of us have written hundreds, or in a few extreme cases, thousands of songs, and you'd have to get very lucky with something to recoup that investment. Also don't forget that suing ...

Re: "Suitcase" - PRE-FIGHT DISCUSSION/ARGUING
The US courts favor the wealthy. If anyone wealthy wants to steal and profit they can just take and they will win in court every time. What we have going for us in this day and age is transparency. Consumers are making decisions of how they spend their money based on a myriad of things and want a h...

Re: "Suitcase" - PRE-FIGHT DISCUSSION/ARGUING
I'm no expert, but here's my advice: proceed with caution. Hey man I took your advice and decided to read up on copyright law concerning copyrighting songs. It seems that any new piece of music written out on staff paper is automatically copyrighted, recordings work this way as well. What someone c...

Re: "Suitcase" - PRE-FIGHT DISCUSSION/ARGUING
When you upload onto a site like YouTube it comes with a time stamp which takes legal precedent of someone does steal your work. I have always assumed that exactly the same thing happens when you email it to the Fightmaster and he/she uploads it to a site like Songfight! Very true indeed. Along wit...
