Liquid Starshine by Jerkatorium Verse 1: Got a handful of pills And a Pop-Tart for food, And it’s noon, so it’s okay to drink. I’ll check in on you, Then I’ll check out the tube,  Then I think it’s time for me to check out too. I’ll stop watching the evening news And devote more time to the pills a...

Special thanks to everyone who posted their lyrics (not mandatory, but appreciated). Extra-special thanks to everyone who also listed where their sample came from. The judges get less than two days to listen and rank the songs, so it helps a lot.

Re: Nancy Pelosi For President! (Two Hits Reviews)

No singer in any of the music you like has ever sung a one syllable word over two notes or deliberately left some space between some words? :P That's right. Just like that band we reviewed for the "Sing of the Times" fight: "She's buy-y-ing a stai-airway to heaven." What kind of amateur stretches "...

Re: Time to Sing your Predictions of the Future (Sing of the Times Reviews)

[...] personally I have no problem with somebody spending "only a few hours" on a song. I don't believe in there necessarily being a relationship between time spent on a song and quality of the song, personally. Does it spoil things to know I recorded the whole BSS "Thirteenth Moon" on one day in a...

He'll take a backing vocal track, copy it to another track, tune all the pitches, flatten all the pitch warble to zero, and then work out what each harmony note should be on the guitar. Then we'll tune that note on the copied track to what it should be, and then listen to it against the original ba...

SpinTunes 15 sign-ups and schedule

SpinTunes is a semi-annual elimination competition. It differs from Nur Ein in that it gives topics instead of titles, and it is only four rounds instead of eight. Also the schedule is slightly less arduous than Nur Ein - you get a little over a week to finish each song, followed by a five- or six-...

Updated October count:

Man (10)
Boy (3)
Woman (2) (3)
Girl (2)

Yay, parity achieved.

[jk. Please don't make the next title "Woman Woman Woman Woman Woman Woman Woman Girl".]

Re: Word Frequency Count in Song Fight titles

The idea came from some curiosity about whether or not "Robot" appeared in SF titles more often than "Love". It doesn't. Love = 8, and Robot = 4 (5 after the Yes, You're A Robot fight). Other interesting items: "You" (34) appears a little more often than "I" (33). That seems to contradict the alread...

Word Frequency Count in Song Fight titles

We touch on this topic during the Tearing History Down episode of the Two Jerks One Vote Song Fight review podcast so I wanted to post it here. The word frequency count for all Song Fight titles (not including Tearing History Down and Yes You're A Robot) is listed below. I did not include the words ...

Re: Might As Well Pile On (My Last Nerve Reviews)

I'm glad that you explained that stuff about the text files. I never thought that the duplicate entry bug was being intentionally exploited, but I'd still had a smidgen of residual miffedness about Young Blood (even though Jerkatorium wasn't in that Fight) because I'd made the incorrect assumption t...

Re: Might As Well Pile On (My Last Nerve Reviews)

I dipped in to the podcast, good stuff. And yes, the bug is still there that the votes are keyed only on the band name. When folks enter multiple songs with the same band name then unfortunately votes for any one of their songs all go to the artist, not the song. If you'd like that changed, please ...

Re: The Great Big Songfighter Birthday Thread

I've voted, downloaded, lurked on the boards, and submitted cover art on and off since 2001, but Jerkatorium has only been submitting songs for 3 1/2 years. It's very likely that Jerkatorium wouldn't exist at all if it weren't for Song Fight, or if we did exist without Song Fight our output would be...

Thanks a ton Micah, I love your interpretation of 49%; a rousing zydeco version with great vocal harmonies. I've been listening to it over and over.

I would have praised it earlier, but I was too embarrassed to chime in until we got our song done.

Re: Themesong Fight 2017

I hope everyone is doing well! Paco and Boffo Yux, have any of you had a chance to finish your theme songs? Jerkatorium shares the blame for Boffo Yux being late - we knew BYD had encountered some unexpected issues, so we offered to compose a song using the lyrics Tommy had already written. We took...
