Re: Forum version updated

okay I am really disliking all of the themes I've installed so far. If anyone finds a theme they like (that is phpBB 3.2 compatible) please let me know and I'll see about installing it.

Unfortunately the old default theme never got updated for 3.2, which is why I didn't just install that one. :/

Re: Forum version updated

Yeah there’s a bunch of weirdness with the permissions on this particular subforum and I can’t figure out where to fix it. One of the missing permissions seems to be “post bbcode.” But only for some people. phpBB certainly is a wonderland, and updating it is one of those damned-if-you-do, damned-if-...

Re: NEW: Fight Review-o-matic!

I would unsticky this thread seeing as how this feature hasn't existed for years but for some reason phpBB isn't giving me the option to. WTF?

EDIT: so I just edited the database directly

Re: Forum version updated

anyway in addition to hopefully fewer massive security holes and all new exciting bugs to contend with, phpBB 3.2 finally adds built-in support for Atom feeds, which is great for those of us who still use feed readers.

Re: Forum version updated

I can't believe that in the yer 2018, phpBB still uses .gif files for the fucking site logos. And still has no provision for easily replacing said logos.

Forum version updated

We were running phpBB 3.1.9 which was hilariously outdated. Upgrading to the latest version required resetting all of the forum themes unfortunately (because that's how outdated it was). Sorry for the jarring change.

Let me know if something seems broken.

Re: She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

In the original series, the Sorceress wakes up from a bad dream where she remembers a baby being kidnapped and taken to Etheria, and then summons He-Man and gives him a second sword of Grayskull and sends him off to Etheria. There he foments a revolt and meets Bow, and then they come across Force Ca...

I like the mode where you go up 3 half-steps, then 1, then 4, 1, 5, 9, ...

It's the "pi á la" mode.

Oops I posted this to the wrong thread originally but Native Instruments is still having their extended Thanksgiving sale. 50% off pretty much every individual plugin. (Unfortunately this doesn't include KOMPLETE this year like it did last year.) https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/thanks...

Re: Forum instability

They mostly happened when searching or posting. Ken first reported it a couple days ago and it seemed transitory, then I started getting them a LOT. I could dig into the logs to see when this Chinese bot swarm started; the logs show there were hundreds of machines constantly requesting every forum U...

Re: Forum instability

Yeah, although it doesn't really do much useful (it's a crusty old instance of awstats that only does the same analysis that's trivial to do from the command line) and I don't know what the password to the dashboard is anyway.

Re: Forum instability

Okay, it looks like we were being DoSed by some sort of botnet from China for some reason (like, we were getting thousands of hits a second from a single IP block all from spoofed mobile user agents with no referrers). I've blocked them from accessing the forum, hopefully that helps.

Forum instability

Lately it seems that the forum is generating Internal Server Errors a lot, and I suspect this is simply Dreamhost having overallocated our server, as they tend to do. I'll see if there's anything we can do on our end but most likely we're going to need to get Dreamhost to migrate our site to a diffe...

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

Anyone else watch this? It's a lot of fun. They take the basic story from the first five episodes of the original show but really flesh the characters (and their motivations) out, and remove He-Man from the mix. It's designed and primarily written by Noelle Stevenson who was previously most famous f...

Re: Tuning Vocals in Post

Yeah ever since flex pitch came out I have never needed/wanted to use the automatic pitch corrector except for very specific effect purposes (and flex pitch handles those use cases with way better tunability anyway, even if it isn't quite as fire-and-forget). I love that with it I can go in and choo...
