Re: Don't Have a Cow, Pig, Goat or... (Our Forfeited Friends Reviews)

Berkeley Social Scene - I like the guitar crunch, you’ve nailed that classic rock punchiness again, but the vocal melody and guitar solo follow really meandering paths in this one, which doesn’t really do it for me. Dark Side of the Son - definitely agreed on the Magnetic Fields vibe, at least until...

Re: Gift of Music 2017-2018

OK, here are some songs. I should probably note that if this slips later than January I'll struggle to participate, but I'm definitely up for it otherwise. Re: Most anticipated albums of 2018?

My most anticipated album of 2017 was 'Matchy Matchy' by The Ballet, which didn't end up coming out in 2017, so I guess I'll roll that one over to this year! Hopefully it's just delayed rather than cancelled, they don't have much of a social media presence so it's hard to know... Their last album, '...

Re: Kong: Skull Island

I enjoyed it way more than I expected! John C. Reilly totally steals every scene once he turns up. I actually got a bit emotional about the way his story ends, which I was not expecting from a monster movie.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi

I just saw it today. One of the better ones, I thought. Definitely a few scenes that made me roll my eyes a little but the action is great, and I really like the characters in this new trilogy so I'm generally happy to spend more time with them. I've never been a major Star Wars fan but I had a blas...

Re: Favorite Album of 2017?

I still listen to albums! My favourite from 2017 was Romaplasm by Baths.

Hyper-emotional electronic pop with gorgeous production.

I was working on a song about both (I lost a cat this year) but haven't had the time to get very far with it.

Re: Two Bits To Pay The (Toll of the Inferno Reviews)

Berkeley Social Scene - the guitars have a nice crunch to them, the melody is strong and there’s a really strong 70s classic rock vibe to this one. Excellent stuff, I particularly enjoyed how it flows into that really melodic solo and the catchy lead guitar work over the outro. You’ve even got some ...

Re: Toll Of The Inferno

(Vom Vorton) records tell of a mighty blaze back in seventy-six at the place where the local disco fiends got their fix that place burned, baby burned but will we ever learn, baby, learn? only three guys survived (the composers of “stayin’ alive”) but what was the toll (what was the toll) of the inf...

Re: BoJack Horseman

The episode told from the perspective of Princess Carolyn's descendant did a pretty good job of shattering my heart.

But, you know, in a good way.

Re: Don't have a cow! (Sacred Coward Reviews)

Vom Vorton : There is a section between verses where you hear it without any vocals, that might have been better if it was only half as long. vomvorton : At times it seems like the same thing repeats a little too much though. Yeah, you've got me there. Because I was doing this album-in-a-month thin...

Re: Don't have a cow! (Sacred Coward Reviews)

Soundsword - there are definitely parts of this that feel unfinished, but I really like the vibe and love your voice! This reminds me a lot of the band Wheat, who have been a favourite of mine for a long time. Unfortunately I've already voted (which was foolish of me, given the submission problems f...

Re: Don't have a cow! (Sacred Coward Reviews)

Chumpy - love that jangly chord progression, and the vocal melody is very catchy. On first listen I felt like it was maybe a touch too long, but revisiting it this morning I think I was wrong. Strong lyric and good take on the title. Micah Sommersmith - you deserve a lot of points for the coward / H...

Re: BoJack Horseman

I'm working through season 4 at the moment. There hasn't been a peak to match the underwater episode from season 3 yet but it's brilliant stuff. Probably my favourite show currently "airing", if I can still use that word in our digital age.
