Re: Look at these cool (Secret Handshake Reviews)

Hot Pink Halo "I hold an earthquake in my arms" is a great image, and you stick with it with talk of lightning later, and of atmosphere. It's all very big. But the bridge, where you talk about the secret handshake, doesn't follow , and all of a sudden I don't know what you're talking about. Musical...

Re: RIP Marie Fredriksson from Roxette :(

Look Sharp! was one of those albums that hit at just the right time in my childhood to really make a mark (I was 10). We had it on cassette and I loved it so much.

I didn’t vote for the pricks.
Same. It was the last election I’ll be able to vote in though, most likely.

Re: It's a bit white and bony (Skeleton Key reviews)

Hot Pink Halo - I love your inventiveness. really quirky/interesting instrumentation. I think the vocals work better on this one than on your other songs I've heard recently. this is an almost love, but definitely appreciate and probably vote. I don't think I've ever heard a song that really sounds...

Secret Handshake - Hot Pink Halo *** I hold an earthquake In my arms, I draw it close As the ground begins to rise It's silent while it rips apart My atmosphere On its path to the outside Lightning flashes through My mind, I try to hold it back But it cuts right through the skies It's silent while i...

In! Late! Was working on Toshiro's computer then came back to mine to export. Turns out he's got more sounds on his computer than I do. I mean, I was already late, but that made me extra late.

Crumpart (though I think we both just exposed our actual names with those video links :p): I loved that painting! I was trying to follow your process and it was enjoyable to watch, despite me knowing little to nothing about painting techniques besides what I've seen on Bob Ross...did you get his sh...

Re: It's a bit white and bony (Skeleton Key reviews)

Skeleton Key ART reviews All of the art entries were usable and I'm very glad to see more people doing art. If you're even vaguely interested then go ahead and think about submitting art in the future. There are some simple phone apps that can help or tons of on line sites that could possibly work ...

Re: Songfighter Videos on YouTube

I've made a cover song! I make a Project For Awesome* video each year, and because the Australian government continues to be an absolute steaming turd, it's usually always for a charity that supports refugees. This year I've made my video encouraging people to donate to the Asylum Seeker Resource C...

The Australian government has axed the federal Department of Arts

https://www.sbs.com.au/news/massive-backwards-step-australia-to-no-longer-have-a-federal-arts-department? This week, without warning, the Australian federal government got rid of its arts department. They say it’s to “improve efficiency”, but I’m pretty sure it’s mostly “don’t want to fund those pe...

I hear we have spoiler tags now! Gross story below. Sounds like the time I... Short sad story, extra warning. Re: My Life

There are some years when I've gone all out with handmade gift-giving, but these days it's mostly petered out or ends up being donations to charity, which I think people in my family generally appreciate, and I like better on principle, but it's a bit less fun than making stuff/picking stuff out fo...

Re: My Life

Rode into town to send Christmas gifts to family in Australia today. I’m from a big Irish Catholic family with lots of brothers and sisters with many nieces and nephews, so we do a Kris Kringle thing where we spend AUD $50 on one adult and $30 on one kid. It’s great because everyone gets one good th...

Berkeley Social Scene : Overall I really like this. The think the “Right. Now. It’s time...” section in particular is really strong. I’m not sure that some of the drumming rhythm choices entirely gel, but that’s just a niggly thing and I think overall the song is good. CazaroTaro : I really like th...

Mini art reviews! I really liked all of the entries this week. I’m not sure what type of process everyone used. Pigfarmer jr: I thought the layout was really clear and strong. That key is cool and does some weird things to my brain. I’m not sure if this is deliberate but like that it has a fun opti...
