Re: Juliet never liked her hair (The Middle Part reviews)
Let's respond to the nice comments, just cause I'm bored. I voted for these songs: Bachelor Police - Good song! I liked the singing. The singer sounds a little bit like John Benjamin. I also liked the drums. Yay! I guess I need to brush up on my SF! to get that reference. Todd will be happy about th...

Re: Juliet never liked her hair (The Middle Part reviews)
So the boys of Bachelor Police all are in a house together for the semester. This is our first entry as a band and we put it together Sunday. We decided we would sit down together and review the songs collectively on first impressions. Here goes (more to come at a later date). Also, the band members...

Re: The Middle Part
The Middle Part By Bachelor Police We found this place pristine empty white-washed walls numerous memories yet to fill these barren halls I missed the middle part When did we begin? Can we start again? Can we start again? We left that place in ruins burned it down I'm sure smoldering ashes still fal...

Re: Between Pre-Fight and Post-Fight there's this
Bachelor Police are in. Since songwriting was left up to me, we lost the blue-garage part of our sound and basically just ended up indie-punk ala Weakerthans. Here's hopin someone digs it and I'm looking forward to all the constructive feedback you guys give.

Re: Between Pre-Fight and Post-Fight there's this
It's been something like 4 years since I tried songfight. My new band is all moving into a house together this week and to get the creative juices flowing we're considering taking part in this fight. Guess I'm saying, The Bachelor Police may be making an appearance bringing some sub-par-college-gara...

Re: Help Mixing My EP (Or, How to not sound demo-y)
Yo songfight, Thanks for all your input guys. We just had our EP release show and it went really well. Gave out something like 30 of our EPs but upon listening I've found that I never really figured out the whole "mastering" thing. Don't get me wrong, it sounds pretty decent as is. I'm rea...

Re: Help Mixing My EP (Or, How to not sound demo-y)
'Nother song. Using some of your suggestions, mostly compression on nearly evrything. I think the kick drum comes through a bit more on this one, I'm really happy how its sounding. This ones a bit different cause I used my accoustic-electric instead of my electric and plugged it straight in. Some of...

Re: Help Mixing My EP (Or, How to not sound demo-y)
- More compression. Grokking compression takes a while; read a few tutorials and experiment. - The vocals will sound much more "radio ready" if you a) compress them; b) learn to sing. (b) can make a fair bit of (a) optional. - Whether tracks sound good on their own doesn't matter, so don'...

Re: Help Mixing My EP (Or, How to not sound demo-y)
Cool stuff. The drums were actually recorded with two mics. One under the snare pointed at the kick (to bring more presence in the mix for the two most necessary drums) and then one overhead to capture the cymbals and full set. It comes out okay, just not much punch to the kick (but at least its dis...

Help Mixing My EP (Or, How to not sound demo-y)
Howdy guys, Its been a loooonnnggg time since I was last around here. I used to songfight as an excercise to help me get ideas flowing, but now I'm a senior mechanical engineering student and have little time for that. But I do still find time for music (otherwise I'd go insane), and have formed a b...

bam did it... Its just a rough quick take. Made most of it up as i recorded. But its a fun excrecise. I think I write easier when I'm trying to ape someone else or another genre. :D (click for song) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/1516puzzle/pics/albumshot2.jpg I kinda want to do the supercar...

Make own album art (then song... FUN!!!!1)
I was on this other forum and this game came up called "make your own album art" Naturally I participated: Goes like this: find a random wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random the name of the article becomes the name of your band (this would work so much better i yo...

i just came across this today after looking at reviews for my current interface and I'm wondering... I'm currently using a Tascam US-122 to record through and I like it for the most part (could use some more inputs and outputs... but thats not in my budget at the moment to upgrade). But I kept readi...

I could probably throw some BVs, bass or keys in the direction of a band of Super-Lurkering-Sometime-Fighters, should enough people of that ilk be up for the idea. I'm up for that. I gots me guitar and me voice (kind of.. I may be getting a cold) and random auxiliary percussion in the form of me ba...

Since my new job I've been finding new ways to pass time at work. This seemed the ideal place to share my latest find... It's called Slow Wave . Its a webcomic about peoples dreams. Its songfight-y in a way. People email in their dreams to this guy named Jesse Reklaw and he draws them into comics. I...

hooray for pillows fans! (check the name and you'll know) Sadly i haven't gotten the chance to get a pillows album but i constantly listen to them through the magic of the internets and file sharing. I'm really happy to see the good response this CD is getting and I actually thought my foot was a da...

Sounds pretty good - is the bass line a little weird note-wise in spots? this could be true. Our bassist took three takes and he just kind of goes with the flow of the music. His part is mostly solid but he throws in some made up things occasionally... I was supposed to listen to his take closely a...
