Night Sky: Points for real brass. Otherwise fine.

Just a little before I start. I'm new to this and am just a dad making music when my kid is asleep, so please take these reviews
with a grain of salt.
Welcome! Thanks for reviewing on your first time out!

Re: Doesn't count if it's anonymous (Letter To The Editor reviews)

A little late to the party with my reviews, but not too late. Thanks to all who have reviewed so far. I have more mix notes than I usually would, because I feel like I'm starting to develop a better ear for these sorts of things. But of course I could be wrong, and if so, sorry about that. Murder on the Greyhound - Night Sky Drove my greyhound blind in a blizzard Lonely souls sat quiet and shivered On the midnight route out of Toledo Got a man up front twirling his mustache A sleeper in the back behind a mask Twelve poor wretches staring into the dark If you got a score to settle or ...

Night Sky: I wasn't quite sure to make of this one, but I did learn something: I thought CRT was cathode ray tube, but turns out it's critical race theory. Pardon my ignorance, but could this be like a protest song sung at a MAGA rally? If so, I kind of like the subversion. Plus, the whistling is g...

@seemanski, ha, Paco has made the same observation about some of my other tunes. That’s a territory my instrumental parts tend to hang out in. No wah-wah rhythm guitar in this one, though.

Re: SpinTunes 19 Round 1 'Shh' reviews and comments

Night Sky - Secret Society There was one thought that popped into my head randomly whilst walking and hearing that funky bass and keys which was this is sounds really sexy. The vocals get me past that and the brass section is awesome, I'm crap with recognising instruments but pretty sure was a sax ...

Re: Gonna give them a piece of my mind (Letter to the Editor prefight)

In, on time for once! I made a deal with myself that if I had lyrics by the end of Monday I would do a low-stress, minimal production during the first interregnum of SpinTunes. So it's straight up G&G (with spleen venting).

Secret Society - Night Sky I couldn’t sleep last night The moon was too bright Your dream made you smile It took me by surprise I wanted to stop time Help you stay there a while Will I ever know why Most nights you cry You're holding onto bad cards But you don’t have to be You're hidin' like you’re...

Re: The Doomsday clock says we're (One Minute Closer reviews)

Thanks for the thoughtful reviews. I appreciate some of the longer-established song fighters kicking off reviews when there's been a bit of a drought of late. Here are my thoughts. Berkeley Social Scene - Pretty typically solid BSS offering, with good arrangement and nice guitar and synth leads thro...

One Minute Closer - Night Sky The snow poured over the alps Like a mother’s hand caressing her new baby’s scalp Pulled the glove from my right hand Risking my fingers in the hope you’d understand Your smooth hand slipped into mine As though we’d planned it - our breath danced before the dawn We sto...

Re: I can't find my (Vanishing Twin reviews)

Finally reviewing again after failing to write anything up on my last several fights. These are brief, but I'm happy to elaborate on anything. Adam Rabin : Nice. I like how you create a great creepy, dramatic atmosphere with some pretty simple instrumental parts. Well composed, nice vocal performanc...

Re: I can't find my (Vanishing Twin reviews)

Night Sky Dig: the vibe, the bass, the harmonies But: the drums need a bit of work. They’re really quiet and not-so real sounding. Might try a an obviously artificial cheesy 1980s Casio preset? — or try to get the drums more real. Vote? Yes! Thanks for the review and the vote. The drums are MIDI, b...

Re: Vanishing Twin …

The lyrics for this song were based on the the myth of Daphne and Apollo. And "vanished twin" fit the story and the lyric better than "vanishing twin," so we took some license with that. Vanishing Twin - Night Sky Daphne in the sun Sang a song for no one But herself to enjoy Daph...

Night Sky is in, unfashionably late, with some extra special backing vocals and biographical lyrics drawn from mythology.
