Re: Well actually, that's violet (Indigo Wave reviews)

For those who didn't catch it, BSS's song was about eating Tide pods, with our lyric's authors imagining "Riding the indigo wave" being slang for that activity. Now Tide has an even better way to ride the indigo wave!

Yeah, I enjoyed it. Thanks for making the time to do it in spite of being busy with SpinTunes.

Forever (Amazon TV series)

We just finished this show. It's slow and weird but I think ultimately pretty beautiful. Definitely of a kind with "Master of None". I hope they get to do a second season! Fred Armisen and Maya Rudolph were great.

Re: SongCoin Idea

I was just looking at data around this recently and even my cynical assumptions were much rosier than what I saw. The distribution "curve" is really more like two perpendicular lines. A statistically insignificant percentage of the artists get practically all the streams, and practically a...

Re: SongCoin Idea

OK, so, what would be the end goal of what you'd want to implement, hypothetically? Is it for the writer of a song to get sustained revenue from the song? That's proportional to the times people listen to the song? Or something else?

Aw man, that's too bad. You could always reach out for help getting an idea, here on the boards, on social media, IRL, etc.

Re: SongCoin Idea

Jonathan's project seems like a no-risk thing for him. He's going to make the songs anyway. He can still do everything he's currently doing with them. But he can also potentially sell them in this marketplace as collectibles. He only gets the money from the initial sale, sure, but he got ~$550 for t...

Re: SongCoin Idea

Sounds cool. How do you get it started? Meanwhile, Jonathan Mann has been trying to get a blockchain tie in for Song-A-Day going for a couple years. (He's mostly been stymied by lack of programmer resources.) His model is more like CryptoKitties and CryptoPunks, making his songs into collectibles wi...

Solo: A Star Wars Story

We just watched this last night. I was expecting it to be really awful based on the very mixed reviews, the poor box office performance, and the rocky history to the creative process. I cringed at some of it, for sure. Some of the dialog and subplots were too corny even for a Star Wars movie, or jus...

Brother Machine/Seth Gibbs Hxaro

As mentioned elsewhere, "classic" fighter Brother Machine (real name Seth Gibbs) recently passed away from cancer: https://www.austinchronicle.com/music/2018-10-26/playback-seth-gibbs-promises-to-fight/ I haven't seen an "official" notice about his passing but MC Frontalot tweete...

Re: Brother Machine

For those who don't know, Brother Machine was a long ago fighter who was an excellent and amazingly talented person. I think the only time I ever saw him was at the very first Song Fight! "in real life" event I went to, 15 years ago, a "Song Fight! Presents" show that Ken organiz...

Re: Well actually, that's violet (Indigo Wave reviews)

Wow, really good crop of songs this fight (again!). I particularly enjoyed the newcomers Fauxthoreau and Tandem Bandit, and the latest Third Cat and Vom Vorton entries, but I enjoyed all the songs. And another fun podcast episode, too.
