Yeah, you definitely want Ableton Live. I've been playing with it a bunch lately and it's really geared towards exactly what you're looking for.

I know nothing about this: what's a good/inexpensive guitar amp suitable for live shows? The guitar sound will be coming from my Boss GT-6, so it doesn't really need to have much in the way of whistles and doodads on it. I currently only have a small dumb amp that I never use.
