Re: Here's an alternative to (House Arrest reviews)

1b92d9ce-8365-428c-a81f-bd1ab8d9522b is indeed the artist name and it's the output from a UUID generation tool. As for the track, running a volca sample through a fuzz pedal and an envelope filter and chanting meaningless hype slogans is really fun, you should try it. As for the genre tag, industri...

Re: Here's an alternative to (House Arrest reviews)

In the order listened: Night Sky: The sax hit me right off the bat. The vocals seem a bit uncertain or hesitant but I think that works here. "I broke my silence about that week in Warsaw" is more amusing to me than it should be. Fun lyrics. The real star here is the sax work, it's consiste...

Re: Slap on this ankle monitor (House Arrest prefight)

In and submitted. Due to the aforementioned cut I had to simplify the guitar stuff I wanted to do, but at least I got to use some fuzz pedal.

Re: House Arrest

House Arrest by The Idiot Kings After months of house arrest I’m told it’s time to give this house a rest All this needless pressure pressed on these four walls This wood and nails and drywall have passed the test But the great outdoors can be so frightening And the sight of sunlight blinds like lig...

I feel like this should be some kind of big anniversary event with a documentary and such.
Also I should point out the oddity that we registered for this board on the same day.

Man I loved Kompressor. Even when I found out it wasn't an actual insane German person I still loved it.

if you can tell me what it is you want I might be able to help track some guitar tonight
Oh, wow, thanks for the offer! I think I'm going to do some open tuning stuff to make it work. Thank you anyway!

Re: Slap on this ankle monitor (House Arrest prefight)

I might be in. I started a track and got the vocals, piano, bass, and drum programming in with a plan that I was going to layer a lot of guitars, and then I went and cut my index finger pretty badly last night. I may rearrange or try to find a way around it.

About once a week I wish I owned bagpipes.

Now more than ever.

Also, this video features some TRULY TREMENDOUS mullets. Wow.
That's fantastic. I'm only familiar with his stellar work on the Rad (1986) soundtrack.

If there's any instant band action, I've got my bass and baritone guitars at the ready.

Re: Morphine (the band)

I'm bummed that I didn't know them when they were around. I was even in college in the northeast in the late 90s and had family in Boston. Dana Colley is an absolute animal, that bari tone is ridiculous. He and the two drummers from Morphine (in the pre-COVID days) used to play regularly in Somervi...

Re: Morphine (the band)

I just got to reading a bit more about them. Mark Sandman probably had some of the most interesting last words of any well known person. "It's a beautiful evening, it's nice to be here and I want to dedicate a super sexy song to you." I wonder what super sexy song he never got to play tha...

Re: Morphine (the band)

That's awesome. I'm in NH now but spent most of my life in the immediate Boston area, and in the Boston music scene it seemed like anyone of a certain vintage had their Mark Sandman story. I missed out by about three or four years, but it sounds like he was a strange and funny guy. The documentary a...

Re: Come on, Pa! Tell me about those (Better Days Reviews)

My contribution is that I once got high with Mark Sandman backstage at The Middle East before they went on and blew everyone’s minds. Dana Colley played two saxes at once, it was a phenomenal show I saw them at The Middle East for their CD release show for "Like Swimming", got a signed CD...

Re: Come on, Pa! Tell me about those (Better Days Reviews)

Damn, didn’t expect to have CONtagiousgate for my first fight back but this is cool. I’m happy to hear people’s takes on it. I listen to a lot of stuff that doesn’t care about that sort of thing (Interpol, Dismemberment Plan, miscellaneous shit punk and noise) so to me it strikes me as a very “pop” ...

Re: Come on, Pa! Tell me about those (Better Days Reviews)

I’m with owl. There are lots of songs that strive to have the same melodic rhythm from verse to verse and are seemingly ok with weird prosody to achieve that consistency. It drives me up the wall. Prosody: https://www.apa.org/pubs/highlights/peeps/issue-29 Completely valid opinion, but that’s diffe...

I can't tell if this means you'd be in or out on doing the rock opera version of the way the sequel trilogy *should have* gone
I’m pro-sequels but I think we should stop that conversation before it gets intense, haha.

why is it always two cents. how are you supposed to get rich off your opinions this way
Because if jerks like me keep giving out opinions at two cents a pop we can stay financially solvent. Any more and things get dodgy, especially if we start talking Star Wars.

Re: Come on, Pa! Tell me about those (Better Days Reviews)

First fight in over ten years, first reviews in the same. orat0rical0rator - I really like this sort of oddball pop. It reminds me a bit of Jonsi's newest solo album. Lots of fun textures. The vocals are nice but definitely take a backseat to the fun production. Lichen Throat - It took me a minute to...

Re: Come on, Pa! Tell me about those (Better Days Reviews)

The reason a chart like this works is because words have particular natural stress patterns... when you bend them out of shape to wedge them into your song, it’s a noticeable flaw, it’s not really poetic license. My two cents. Agree to disagree. I think restrictions hinder creativity and can be bro...
