Re: Sad, Somber, Strange, Mysterious(Elegy for Industry Reviews)

coder_lyte() - Man, this music, cheesy and cringey. I hope there isn't any vocals in this song either because they would probably make everything worse. No, I was wrong, the vocals are okay. Or not. Or maybe they are. Not that it really matters. WTF? I had a legit hearty laugh at "two bucks at...

Re: Sad, Somber, Strange, Mysterious(Elegy for Industry Reviews)

Hi coder, last weeks I spent some times checking out the song fight forum. I finally found the lyric archive and the introduction to new players... ...and the "Free Plug Ins" site http://songfight.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=164&st=0&sk=t&sd=a . There are some really fi...

Re: Sad, Somber, Strange, Mysterious(Elegy for Industry Reviews)

Here's a bit of Fridge Logic : In coder_lyte() 's entry, how come he'll "never play those games again"? Even if Atari had gone belly-up and the home console industry had bombed, he'd still have the games he already bought, right? Sure I could, it doesn't mean I would. In addition to the i...

Re: Sad, Somber, Strange, Mysterious(Elegy for Industry Reviews)

Abominominous - There's a lot of different styles in there; some I really like and some not so much. Some of the tones in odder portions kind of clash. All of it is really well done though. Adam Adamant - I like the flow of this. The bass line is pretty cool, it has good harmonies and a good progres...

Re: Sad, Somber, Strange, Mysterious(Elegy for Industry Reviews)

Coder_lyte() - Sounds a little video-gamey at first. Like the theme that plays when the main character at the beginning of an RPG gets kicked out of his hometown. And then the lyrics kick in and it becomes clear that I was right on the money. I love it when that happens. In fact, after the first ch...

I'm in with a song about the video game market crash of 1983. It's half piano, half poorly played guitar, and half square wave.

Elegy for Industry coder_lyte() I used to play all of those games in childhood days Adventure, Asteroids, Combat and Maze Craze The golden age of console games wouldn't last And soon the glory they had made would fade into the past I had to say goodbye to the industry When there came the fall of Ata...

Re: ... And They're All On These Boards!! (Half a Million Nerds)

Coder, could you expand on how the quality could be improved? I struggled with mixing and mastering this one, so it would be helpful. Maybe some more panning on the percussions, and the different portions of the kazoos. And some extra EQing. I don't think I could do a better job myself, so I'm not ...

Re: ... And They're All On These Boards!! (Half a Million Nerds)

Abominominous – I like the composition here. The syth part at the end of the intro is cool. The recording quality does leave something to be desired though. The vocals are pretty welld one, bit too goofy in places. I’d say it’s one that’s worthy of a remix. Andrew Reist – Dude, is this anti-nerdcor...

coder_lyte() -- Yes, the Nintendo style is back! Or can we call this demostyle? Anyway, awesome! Your vocals are better too, and mixed into the song better. The voice still sounds a bit weak in places, perhaps mix a bit more chest into that. Promise you'll write more songs. I'll assume you will and...

Re: How did you find out about Song Fight?

I'm another who knew about it back in 2000, and listened to a lot of Kompressor, Frontalot, Add, JB, etc. I used to try and make music in a mod tracker, but gave up on music completely for some years. Then, in the past year I started up again, with slightly better software. And I bought a guitar.

Another one I would have like to make longer, but didn't have enough time. I spent way too much time struggling with LMMS, since it seems to have problems loading files once you get about 30 samples in them.

Re: You Shake My Snake & You Rattle My Brain-Rattlesnake Reviews

Rone, Do you record all of the guitar/vocal tracks in one long take? It's a whole lot easier to get seemly good timing if you record many small snippets, and time them with the sequencer. I suck at keeping time, but if I find a way to break the tracks apart at silent parts it helps. You can make a p...

An infinite number of mathematicians walk into a bar. The first orders 1/2 a beer, the second 1/4 and the third 1/8. The bartender cuts the fourth mathematician off, and pours one beer.

Re: You Shake My Snake & You Rattle My Brain-Rattlesnake Reviews

Attention all Units – I really like the vocals & strings portions, and it has a great guitar rhythm. Kind of short, and could really use a harder additional part. 7 Billy’s Little Trip – Nice Rocking sound, and I love the solo. Pretty awesome lyrics. I think the rhythm guitar could stand to be ...

Re: It's just across the Bay (City in Fog reviews)

Adam Adaman t - Was a little too thin, not a good melody, and the synths just don't sound very good. Berkeley Social Scene - Pretty enjoyable, with a good rhythm. The guitar solo probably had too much reverb though. Big Crouton - You're stuff is always a treat; never know what to expect. I love the...
