Re: recording play back
Headphones will sound "bassey" during playback or when recording. Your final mix is what you should be concerned about. That will be when you want to maximize the sound coming out of those Altec's. If you can make your song sound good through those, you should be golden. Just keep everythi...

12 (at least) year old Glenlivet Scotch served gently and minimally over the rocks.
Stir with an (at least but not beyond) 18 year old female nipple, lick cleaned by the recipient and serve.

Re: ever recorded killer backing
The only fight I ever won, I think may have been because of backing vocals. Some back story, I grew up listening to my brothers and sisters listening to the Beatles and other vocal oriented groups. When I took my interest in music, I started replicating what I had heard vocally. Bear in mind that I ...

Didn't that actually become a verb around here? 'Once again, JB decides to Nevada the thread..." That's what I was talking about, being used as a verb. Good call K.A. But with the advent of widescreen monitors, we may never have to worry about it again. (Somebody feel free to prove me wrong he...

Stumbled across this today. This should be done at the next Songfight Live, but in multiple cars, with multiple instruments.

This one is an oldie, not sure if it gets used much anymore.
"WTF is up with that Nevada sized photo?"
Hell I'm not sure I even said that right.

Re: Electric Drums needed
Pintech makes a fairly nice alternative to the Roland V-Drums. Similar woven head technology compared to the hard rubber pads of the Simmons or Yamaha sets which will make for much happier neighbors. You can pick them up fairly cheap on E-Bay. I have played them before and liked them, but I'm a guit...

Vote for at least 2 songs?
It's been a while since I have been here and I only did a brief search but what's up with the having to vote for at least 2 entries thing? I voted for my favorite song and it told me I had to vote for at least 2 entries and to make sure I listened to all of the songs. I listened to all of the songs,...

Re: let's buy me an expensive studio vocal mic!
Kind of a dead topic and I don't frequent here as much as I used to, but reading this thread reminded me of one of the other times this came up. Took me a minute to find my link, but this song illustrates perfectly how big budget mics aren't always needed to produce a quality song. In the end I thin...

Re: Inexpensive microphone recommendation
I'm looking forward to my first foray into the Ribbon mic arena with this inexpensive offering from Nady . Note that it accepts, in fact needs 48V Phantom Power to operate. The knock on ribbon mics in the past has been the need for a high end pre-amp to get enough gain out of them for general use an...

Lunkhead I'm late to the party as usual. I have one of these and it works great. I can second Billy's thoughts on ease of use and have one of these because of that. But I still insist individual pedals sound better despite the pain in the ass factor. Here's my setup. http://i33.photobucket.com/album...

I'm sure Ray and Denyer have something like this on their lists.
I of course have ammo and guns on mine. Because I'm American, and we shoot things here.
It's like the old west without all the pomp and circumstance of fancy schmancy Austrailia.

Re: Everyday Gear Values
An incalculable number of SongFight! entries have been ruined by the simple fact the submitting artist didn't have or bother to use one of these. Butt simple to use, under $20, and the most essential piece of equipment in a guitar players arsenal. It even has a built in microphone for you G&G fo...

My website, which I have long suspected of not being worth mentioning, must have a value of < $0.
When I entered it the calculator told me there was "no data available".
Ouch.

Re: Easy Songs to Play Drums with
It's debatable of course but I think the entire Ringo Starr catalog is a good place to start. The Car's suggestion is good as well, but let me take it a step further and suggest Gary Numan's "Cars" song. Solid easy beat, tempo changes, big cymbal hits in place of the synthesized snare drum...

Re: Vocal Mixing
A new mic isn't necessarily the answer just to add something else for you to consider. An SM58 is more than adequate to get a decent vocal track down. You need to make sure you're watching all of your meters first and foremost. Your pre-amp doesn't offer much in that regard (just "signal" ...

Also to be nit picky... we already have three titles in the last decade! Tampa Bay Storm (Tampa, arena football if you're wondering!) Well to be deliberately nit picky, I said MAJOR sports championships. Arena Football doesn't quite stack up to the likes of the NFL, NHL or MLB in that regard. I'm n...

Hey I know sports is usually about as popular a topic around here as ....... well nothing really comes to mind, but it's not a really popular one. But nonetheless, I did want to send out some congrats to the Rays for not falling to the Sox in a series that should have been over last Thursday night. ...

That and it would be hard to prove it was their samples anyways. Well except for your now very public admission of it. But Hoblit on another note, you said you're still working on getting your drum playing to an acceptable level. Here's a little trick that's helped me. I can keep everything togethe...
