Re: Help me , I'm Roning!

Hey there Roner, it's been a long time. I caught wind of this discussion elsewhere and thought I'd chime in if my opinion can be of any help. All the things you mentioned above to 'improve' yourself were just acquiring stuff - Rock Band, new guitar, eq, etc. They all can help, but they're not going ...

Re: Songsmith: Glow in the Dark Towels

If you watch the video of the guy doing a demo at his desk, when he turns it to "Sad" the chords don't match well with the melody. Maybe it was 'sad' as in 'pathetic'... did you hear the Songsmith With The Devil that somebody did from that scratch track of David Lee Roth? I also found one...

Songsmith: Glow in the Dark Towels

Microsoft is marketing a new app: Songsmith. It autotunes a melody along with a recorded vocal track. While the presets in this video sound hideously cheesy, there's much promise if they make it possible to select different instruments. Now I know that it's rather rudimentary, but I'm really enthral...

Re: It's just across the Bay (City in Fog reviews)

Sorry for taking so long. Tough couple of weeks. Hope these are still relevant. This was an amazing fight. Definitely one of the over-all best that I've heard in the several years that I've been listening. It's a tough call for the winner. My favorites were Quimby, Howl, Paco, Heine, and Elaine. The...

Had fun with this one, hope you all enjoy it.

And I too thought it was Lon lobby , not bobby . Is this a conspiracy? What's going on around here? Ok, I was on the verge of losing sleep over this (I'm a tweaker)...So I checked the Brand New Car fight from '05...and he's Lonbobby, although i called him Lonlobby in the reviews. What the.....

for years I've been reading and saying "Lonlobby" instead of "Lonbobby". Sorry 'bout that. Holy crap! Me too! That's really weird. Thanks for the awesome audio review! I would only take the comparison to McCartney as a huge compliment. Me three - I even went back to the archive ...

Sounds great. For some reason, PureVolume likes playing this song at half speed. It's actually kind of cool at that speed, though the volcals are too muddy. The track plays fine when downloaded.

I like how you refer to me to my own post. I think I explained there that the recording process was rushed, so...yeah. I can't really disagree with any of the criticisms. I wasn't too impressed with the composition, so I guess I didn't put any more into it than I had to to get it done...which was w...

I was impressed with the last fight, but this one's superb. I'm having one hell of a time figuring out who gets the cake. Nice work everyone. ADD - Great song. Nice melodic progression...it really flows along nicely. I like the lyrics in this one, very visceral imagery like "I'm an animal with ...

Initial listening now. May be until after the weekend until I can get my reviews out. If I'm unusually industrious tomorrow, I may have time to do it then. was that intensional to have the music panned left? Other than that, cool song. I jiggled my earphone jack to make sure I hadn't shorted out th...

Wow, what a lineup. I thought it was a great fight - really enjoyed listening. A lot of these songs grew on me over the past few days writing the reviews. I love how the live recordings co-mingle with the studio gems, country-rock and electro-pop. There's a lot of songs and a lot of solid competitio...

Old thread come alive!!! I figured I do a search before posting a new one and found this. I've been playing around with Ubuntu and really like it, and there's a 'Studio' branch which (I think) installs Ardour and Rosegarden and is tuned for low latency. Problem is, Ardour is a sledgehammer, where I ...

Interesting stuff. Funny Mostess brought up Strawberry Fields - I've been obsessing over the various takes off the Anthology album. I'd never heard them before, and I was amazed at how 'sketchy' their process was for recording the albums from that era. Of course, I drew connections to the way I reco...
