If anyone could make a catchy singalong chorus out of "Bop, jazz trump, jazz trump, woah!" It is you Caravan Ray.

It divides the frequency range into 5 bands. These 5 bands can be soloed or muted individually. This will help you to concentrate on c...

2/13/2020 - What love song do you wish you'd written?

QOTD: What love song do you wish you'd written? In advance of Valentine's Day, what love song do you wish you'd written? This was asked to a bunch of famous folks on NPR's All Songs Considered. I thought about the songs my wife and I chose for the big moments in our wedding first and immediately cho...

You can now make sick beats in Microsoft Excel

Check this DAW based on Microsoft Excel: https://www.theverge.com/2020/2/6/21126465/xl-studio-music-making-drum-microsoft-excel-daw-dylan-tallchief I'm a little suspicious of randomly downloading and installing things, but I will guarantee you my vote if you use this in a fight. Just post here about...

Re: Uncut Gems

This movie was crazy intense. I was uncomfortable the whole time. The severity of my reaction is what makes me think this movie is so well done. It was on a ton of top movie lists of 2019, so I was pretty surprised when it didn't win a bunch of awards. Not that I pay much attention to it.

I finished my second track for Weekly Beats. It sounded video gamey to my wife. I ran out of time a bit, but it still has some good parts: https://weeklybeats.com/ken/music/stomper-romper

Re: Star Wars IX: Rise of Skywalker

Right. I forgot to mention how it seemed like they tried to tie as many loose ends up with a tight little bow at the end. Wookies get medals! Other stuff I can't remember right now... Separately, I thought it was funny that stormtroopers got jet packs. As if someone in the writer's room was all, "Do...

Re: Backup Planning - what's your scheme?

I tend to just lose everything when I get a new computer. Not the greatest plan, but I haven't had too many issues with it yet. I do have a pile of CDRs, hard drives and old computers lying around as well as VCR tapes, cassettes and DATs. I only recently had a couple of DATS and cassettes converted ...

Re: Star Wars IX: Rise of Skywalker

Okay. Maybe I'm nitpicking your points a bit because overall, I like the final 3. You don't have to be a Jedi to use a lightsaber. Look at Han on Hoth using Luke's to slice open a Tautaun. It is just the "chosen" weapon of the Jedi as opposed to a blaster. Jedi's can use other weapons as well. I als...

Oh wow, that sounds cool. I look forward to hearing some new songs from you! so wait people are mostly just doing instrumentals? Huh. Yeah, don't get too excited. I'm going to write instrumentals using Reason. I hope to play vibraphone as well, but for now, totally in the box all MIDI. Maybe we can...

Mostly because I want to bump this thread, and also I'm not sure where to put this, but you can download a Rentals synth sample and use it in a contest: https://hitrecord.org/challenges/4097811

OH! I've listened to this Purple Mountains album a few times and see it listed on a lot of best of 2019 lists. I totally missed that it is David Berman from Silver Jews!
