Re: It's Hard To Type When You're (Tied To The Tracks Reviews)

Some reviews. To begin with I was an arse, then I tried to remove some of the arsey comments. If arsey comments remain then your song must have really sucked. If anyone wants clarification or an apology lemme know! BSS: There are things that I like about it as it goes on, specifically the crowd voca...

Re: Tied to the Tracks

Balance Lost Staring at the sun These knots won't come undone This godforsaken war When will the rescue come? I can't see from left to right These binds have done their job adequately Tied to the tracks Staring at the moon I wait for my impending doom Like some Damocles express I know it will come ...

Re: No sunlight in sight (Black Days reviews)

Balance Lost — A couple of the lines (“but nothing got fixed” and “how the hell did they reach that conclusion”) seem to break the lyrical meter; was this intentional? Very much intentional. It's a personal taste thing but I find that sticking religiously to the rhythm can make some lines sound goo...

Re: No sunlight in sight (Black Days reviews)

One more review... Jan: It’s pretty decent. I like the beat and pads in the chorus. The line “no one knows why” doesn’t seem to fit sonically, maybe because it subverts the rhyme. That can be a cool trick but here it comes off as slightly guileless. The song progresses well, it repeats when it shoul...

Re: No sunlight in sight (Black Days reviews)

A disturbing number of you have made the "I-don't-get-the- Black-Days -connection-in-your song" remark (or variations thereon). Did you try reading the comment I posted on this subject in this very thread? I devoted 319 words to the topic. Too much to ask in light of having an instrumenta...

Re: No sunlight in sight (Black Days reviews)

Metaluna: Very proficient guitar playing and some good riffs. Slightly overstays its welcome, and I’m not sure what the connection to the title is. You probably did write and record this track last week, but how can we be sure? Dolla Billy and th’Inkpoints: I feel like I’m in a sewer. There are a v...

Cheers for the reviews so far.

My samples are,
Drums: God Made Me Funky - The Headhunters
Acoustic guitar: Candela - Buena Vista Social Club

I played the bass and various synths.

Re: Listen Through The Static For Your (Cassini Reviews)

Turns out vlc on my phone just didn't like the Huygens file. I've listened now, and so... Huygens : interesting mix of sections. The percussion seems to get a bit thin when it transitions to the second section, mainly cos the opening beat is pretty beefy and cool. I'm not super into the melodramatic...

Re: The New Ugly podcast episode 5 - Nur Ein XII round 4

Haha, not offensive at all. Slightly amusing maybe. I told Matt (BL live bassist) to guess who you compared us to, and said as a clue "not EMF or Carter USM", and immediately he guessed Ned's Atomic Dustbin. On the logic that they're British, slightly groovy rock band I suppose we are a bi...

Re: Listen Through The Static For Your (Cassini Reviews)

2 guitars and a bass: Ooh freaky. The spacey noises in the background are cool. I’m up for a bit of improvisation, but the main guitar is a bit loose and scratchy, it makes it a bit distracting. I think I missed the point of the narration. Spoken word can work in a track, but I listened to this twic...

Re: The New Ugly podcast episode 5 - Nur Ein XII round 4

Ooer, got a little heated there in episode 5! I'm curious to know what band it was that led you to order your first Soundgarden cd by accident. Also, I will try to deliver that anime theme song that is inexplicably expected of me someday. Although I'm not sure if I'll have the motivation without the...

I expected the elevator to represent people getting more civilized or something but i’m not seeing it. Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. It goes 1) Barely wearing pants 2) Enlightenment 3) Industrialisation 4) Globalisation. I didn't wanna spell it out before because, as j$ says, if it needs it e...

Re: Nur Ein XII Round Five

Balance Lost- a bit of a curate's egg in that there are parts I really like and parts I don't. While I'm sure the lyric is deeply profound, it comes across to these ears are deeply pretentious. One of these days I hope to be actually smart, rather than just pretending to be. Were my lyrics more pre...

Strangeluuuurve: Well this is a jaunty little number. I am impressed with the speed at which you can recite the lyrics. Is that studio trickery or are you actually some kind of scat guru? Suitably smutty lyrics. I like the variety of percussion, it accentuates the sense of fun even more. Not only on...

Ah, i'm sorry to know that you've been suffering so much, Nick. I hope you pull through soon!
Taking that into account, kudos for your efforts so far in spite of the struggles. It'd be good to hear the song with a recording it deserves.
