Re: Who's gonna compromise what for the win? (prefight)

I'm in. I really ran out of time on this one, but I got some awesome drum tracks for it so I did what I could to make it work.

Re: Who's gonna compromise what for the win? (prefight)

Well, lyrics have finally come together, and if all goes according to plan I'll be recording drums (real ones!) and vocals (real ones too!) later this evening.

Re: Who's gonna compromise what for the win? (prefight)

I've got a pretty sweet tune in the making, but I've got nothing for lyrics thus far except for 'SOLD OUT!'. Maybe I can get through the whole song using just those two words.

Re: April 6, 2009

First fight by myself was House of Hodgman, which I think was lyrically terrible (like all my songs) but had some cool rockin' sections and a pretty sweet passionate solo. All in all though, it was pretty mediocre and poorly executed. My actual first fight here was Adonai with Jeff Travis Henderson ...

Re: 3/24/09

I use iTunes to hold all my music and to listen to albums, but when I just want to listen to a wav or mp3 that's sitting somewhere on my computer I use Windows Media Player because it opens quicker and looks better than the other options. I use VLC for most movies though.

Re: 3-4-09

There's very few bands I listen to that get into sexual themes at all, though when Van Halen put out their Best of Both Worlds cd, one of the new tracks, 'Up For Breakfast' featured Sammy Hagar singing several suggestive fruit related metaphors, which I found thoroughly off-putting, and I haven't li...

As for your car, any damage 75% or above the estimated value of the car is considered a write-off, or so I was told by the guy who did an estimate on my car.

Re: Come Down where the Pre-Fight is

As it turns out, I am bad at singing. This may prove to be a major road block in the path of me finishing my song.

Re: Come Down where the Pre-Fight is

Well, a neat-o riff of sorts came to me today, so I started making a song out of it. Thus far it's pretty dang close to a finished structure, and I've just got a few more lyrics to write. I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to finish this up on time now that I've got my computer working again.

My computer is in desperate need of an upgrade. Every Pro Tools session I make nowadays ends up pushing my computer beyond its limits, which leaves me unable to accomplish the things that I need/want to.

Re: What are you waiting for? (love me prefight)

Well, I've got a pretty cool chorus with a bit of a porn groove and bee-gee-esque falseto-y goodness. I'm not sure that it'll turn into anything more than a cool chorus though.

QOTD:
For the past 3 years
I throw together two songs
Then break for a year

I just realized that's been my pattern. House of Hodgman and Tw3rp. Baby Be Quiet and Night Terrors. Shoelace Soup and City in Fog.

See y'all next November.

And another one if you guess who did the guitar solo.
Eddie Van Halen!

Do I win?

I actually had a pretty catchy chorus, some cool Wurli riffs, and some sweetastic bass lines, but I failed to make them into a full song.

Does that mean Christmas is cancelled then? Way to go Crouton :( It's okay. While Christmas has been canceled, we'll have a new holiday rise up to take it's place. Atheistmas. Some of the new festive traditions will be marrying homosexuals, having abortions, burning down churches, and reading books...

Re: It's just across the Bay (City in Fog reviews)

Adam Adamant – this is a bit of an offputting intro. I dig the melody, but I don't care for the instrumentation or the unsynced hits. Alright, that was unexpected. This feels really eclectic, but not really in a good way. Quantization is your friend. The whole 'I need a diamond' section is pretty co...

Done and done. Everything turned out pretty good as far as I can tell. I think I've done about the best I can do with this tune. I don't want to spoil the surprise, but I can say with reasonable certainty that this is the most awesome Metal/Barbershop Quartet song you'll ever hear.

Re: Are you in a fog about the next fight?

I hate working on guitar tone. I also suck at it.

However, I won't let my shitty tone stand in the way of me turning this tune in. I just hope I can come up with something that works before the deadline, cause I'm pretty sure my song is awesome, at least in some ways.

Re: Are you in a fog about the next fight?

I've begun work on a pretty ambitious tune for this fight. Hopefully it will all turn out as awesome as the first two minutes, because so far it's shaping up to be pretty fantastic.
