Re: Bottle Neck

Bottle Neck, by Gert. Smalltown, start us off: I know you want to be the man, and start something, make a plan and you want to let the fire burn but you’ve got a lot to learn so slow down but don’t waste your time. Hurry up to the end of the line. You better get your elbows up – get ready to push a...

Actually, no — don't think there's any Electric Six reference. Which part?

We know it is time when we receive a 1,000 word rambling and barely coherent email from Leaf. That email is Gert's version of the Bat Signal.

Re: Pedal to the metal (Corvette reviews)

Berkley So-cal Scene: Not my favourite entry of yours, for sure. The vocals really don’t feel like they match the style and sound like they were recorded separate from the band. Custom Casiotone Creations: I hate to be THAT guy, but it takes a lot to convince me an instrumental tune was written for ...

Re: There's a Hole in My Bucket!? (Drop in the Bucket reviews)

There's some really great stuff in this. The Grim is the best heavy stuff I've heard on Songfight since Jute Gyte used to kick it. You do not have neighbours. This is excellent. BSS sounds great as always, Flxcvsdfgqwrem Floyoujm sounds great, 420 Groove Crew has a nice groove. Jeff DeSantis is real...

Re: Let's dissect it (The Rat Brain reviews)

A lot of good tunes this week.

As for Slickitude, it appears I submitted the wrong version (tagged when we were thinking of changing our name to the Flying Murder Dolphins).

So pretend this version was mastered just slightly better.

Thank Glenny for the Frisbee: FANTASTIC. That is beautiful. I think your vocals could come up slightly, but what a pretty, haunting song.

Re: Reviewioration (Deterioration Reviews)

Just a couple thoughts about songs that struck me. I thought this title was going to lead to awkward pronunciations and forced songs, but not the case overall. Toby Roktot I think you need to enunciate a little more clearly. And you sound really close to the mic. You might actually be inside my head...

Yes, I dare Boltoph to write a tune for the next title when it comes out. I double dog dare him.

And Sunday Guts!
Somehow this wonderful song didn't make it onto my iPod. It's truly great pop! I was nervous at first because it sounded very much like Paid in Full, but this has wonderful vocals and groove. I was hoping for a breakout keys solo at 1:149, great nonetheless.

Re: Hope You're Having A Nice Review (in Jamaica Reviews)

Sorry, I don't have reviews for every song, just the ones I had something to say about. Astrolamb: The autotune really kills it for me, which is too bad because there are some interesting things here. BSS: The music and the lyrics are really working for me, but I hate to say the vocals just aren’t. ...

Re: Rum! (Hope You're Having a Nice Time in Jamaica prefight

Wow, I must be getting old. It was just pointed out to me that the song I wrote is "I hope you have a good time in Jamaica" — which is close but not the title. Good thing I only do a couple songs a year.

Just a couple points on something that struck me in a song. BUT KIDS: for the love of all that is good, fix the tags on your mp3s so they show up on a device. F'real. Jeff DeSantis: This song would be played during the montage halfway through Rom-Com. I dig it — sounds like a real song. Maybe switch...

Sorry — only have comments on a couple songs that struck me. Berkeley Social Scene This is a really great song. Everything sounds great. Nice laid back drum sound, nice thick bass, great solo near the end. I know you've taken flack for the "Is it a 3, is it a 10" line, but I actually like it. The ch...

Under "What do I get if I win?" it currently reads "Bragging rights." Can you change that to "$10,000?"
