Re: Bent Straight

Fussy Britches, yo: Bent Straight I’m bent out of shape Trying to find the time to get straight A bit of a mess Bottled up, throttled with stress But you bent me straight You took a chance, the chances you take Getting tired but it’s not too late To bend me straight So get inside my head and rearran...

Re: Not crooked anymore (Bent Straight prefight)

Rob thinks this Urban Dictionary definition is funny. Fussy Britches Someone who is trying to hurry or speed something up. Mike: When are we going to go? We're gonna be late. If we're late, i'll cry....i swear...LET'S GO!!! Christian: Easy fussy britches...they're open 24 hours. You'll get your happ...

Re: Lying just under the surface of (Uncharted Waters reviews)

I sometimes get comments indicating my drum levels are just a bit too low. I purposefully raised these a hair It wasn't necessarily the volume, but how hard the drums are hit. You won't be able to edit live drums, of course, but if they're .... you know, not an acoustic kit, you might try just lowe...

Re: Lying just under the surface of (Uncharted Waters reviews)

I call these speed reviews — no one even gets a full listen. Lots of skipping around. But you know what? I’m going to vote for EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU. You’re welcome. Pigfarmer Jr Rob — that guy I record with all the time — pointed out the other day that I like my drums dialled down a bit with a ligh...

Re: Uncharted Waters

Uncharted Waters, by Clavikill Parental discretion is advised. Hey all you cool cats and kittens: Listen to me spit about some wet fishes. A simplistic kid who’s got a missing limb, picked on by kids, you know he can’t win. Mom murdered by a roving lunatic, siblings the same, dad’s a clown: pathetic...

Re: Worse than nothing is not (Better Than Everything reviews)

Maybe earnest isn't the right word. The emotion felt overdone to me — like one of those overwrought 80s tunes. It didn't feel like you were actually emotional, just trying to sound emotional.

My kid will be tickled that he got a maybe vote and I didn't, ha!
Definitely got a vote — I meant: "May I have a vote?" "Yes, you may have a vote."

It's the polite Canadian way to allot votes.

Re: Worse than nothing is not (Better Than Everything reviews)

Berkeley Social Scene WAIT! What is this at the end? 3:22 on? It feels like it doesn’t fit. Oh wow, yeah, wtf is that? The song was supposed to end at 3:22. I must have screwed up the start/stop points when I did the export from Cubase. Thanks for mentioning it, will fix. It was close enough that i...

Re: Worse than nothing is not (Better Than Everything reviews)

I’m going to … try … to be a little more honest in these, not just say “nice song”. That’s what we want, right? Constructive criticism? To get better? We’ve got thick skin? Also, I sprained my foot yesterday getting the case of beer that was delivered to my front porch, so I’m stupid. Mandibles I wa...

Re: Give us some (Love In The Time Of Reviews)

Your podcast reviews of my stuff have always been honest and helpful. You've made me think a lot about the way I do vocals. It's obvious you put a ton of effort into it, and it's appreciated.

Huge shout-out to the podcast. It's fantastically well done.

My wife and sons think its hilarious when y'all make fun of my style, too, so there's that.

Re: Give us some (Love In The Time Of Reviews)

A lot of these songs started in nice ways — but then didn’t go where I wanted them too. Sort of like 2020. Jerkatorium That stereotypical sticcatto piano generally infuriates me — but it really works in this song. Verse delivery is really good and a great chorus. There’s a ton of really great stuff ...

Love in the time of, By Gaping Maw I like the sweetness slowly drifting from the sun, I like to taste the rose aroma in my nose and on my tongue, I like the way the melody is sung and I don’t think that you’re like anyone, no. I like the silliness of certain words, I like to watch the soaring of the...

The Dregs, By Slither — based on a very sad but very powerful (and true) story about a woman in her 30s, abandoned in a parking lot when she was an infant, who recently found her birth parents through DNA. A powerful reminder that no one gets to write your story but you. I picked up the pieces that ...

Right town, wrong address, by Slither. “Listen to me, kid. You know we’ve got a lot of life to live But I don’t know that you know what you’re doing yet,” she said. “You’ve got to … figure it out. Re: You're making me uncomfortable... (Personal Space Reviews)

This is the most I’ve ever heard people count into their songs. Mostly these are first-time listens over coffee on Saturday morning, though I listened to Cow Exchange, Futureboy and Darkanon a couple times. I’m handing out votes like they're candy at Halloween. Third Cat Lovely guitar. Might be nice...
