Re: CD Mastering

Absolutely, I would stay away from online mastering services for the most part, because as someone said it's likely just some dude with a plug-in and some presets. I can vouch, however, for two services. The Hip Cola, who you may know from Gert and Shotpounder, is skilled and knowledgeable. He maste...

Naw, I'm just playing with you. But seriously, expand you horizons.

Nope. Good old-fashioned "play the part twice and pan it hard left and right."

Re: Zagat's Domain (Shoelace Soup reviews)

You didn't all submit great songs, but you all deserve crackers for your soup. Again I don't have comments for everyone; some stuff just didn't move me either way. Ian C. Anderson : I always wondered where you went after Jethro Tull. I actually dig this BUT the vocals are muddy—doubled too much, or ...

Even at a nickel a word, I'd be a rich man if I wrote half what you write. So ... uh ... go hump a fish. One that you found ... in the tank.

Gert - I can’t imagine this losing. Big Super Vote! Thanks. This is also my own favourite Gert tune of all time. But I don't think you have a very good imagination. P.S. Gert as a reviewer is a fucking asshole. Wow—agreed. He's also difficult when you're trying to make eggs. just wanted to add I ha...

Re: Chill out, already (Everybody Calm Down reviews)

I didn’t review everything, because I didn’t have something to say about everything. A Late Thaw: The delay on the acoustic was distracting at first, especially when you squeak the strings. I got used to it. But you have to sing more clearly. No exaggeration, until the middle of the song, I thought ...

I didn't mean to make it sound like my friend is stressing about it. I sometimes ask him if he ever saw a CD or his $20 back, but it's not like HE brings it up.

Not a big deal, for sure.

Goofy question

A friend of mine donated money to a musician (we'll call the musician "X") on the internet. X said he was collecting donations to do a gig in a different city; my friend kicked in $20. So the guy never did the gig after collecting the donations, so my friend asked for his money back. X said he'd sen...

That Billy's Little Trip, featuring Steve Durand and Aardwolves track is wicked awesome. Cool everything, but c'mon, when horny Steve Durand kicks in it's pure gold. Totally brings it up to a higher level. Great work. Best SF track I've heard in a long while.

I really dig the Cumlords track, very Jello Biafra but very well done. Nice work. I also dug—as I always do—the Jonathan Mann track. Very cool, great work as always. The ShotPounder track details a fantastic weekend in Westport, Ma with a bunch of the Gert boys and their lovely wives. The drums and R...
