Re: Might as well call this a review thread, I guess. (HBFY)

Pig: I don't mind simple guitar and vocal songs, but I don't care for these lyrics. Also, the 'Out of a Hat' lyric gives this song's true identity away.Isn't that kind of like cheating to use a song idea that you started last week? Either way, I'm not a fan... I'm an idjit. I clicked over on Saturd...

Re: Occupy My Prefight Thread

I've got music I think. And it's not four hours before the deadline when I saw the title. I might do more than 2 SF entries this year.

Re: Might as well call this a review thread, I guess. (HBFY)

Pigfarmer Jr- I like that the vocals are prominent, clear (a theme with me), and the idea was clever for the lyrics. I didn't realize that it was about a stolen baby (Right?) the first time I listened. Absolutely right. It probably needed a bridge to make it more apparent, but I like having it not ...

I got me a little boy Born just yesterday All he does is shit and cry I guess he's got nothing to say Don't know what to call him Never told me his name I gotta find him something That'll bring glory or fame He don't look like a John or Fred Or a George or Jake I could call him Elizabeth But it's mo...

Re: Might as well call this a review thread, I guess. (HBFY)

Billy and the Psychoitics - I liked the guitars to start and the vox is cool, but I'm not digging the melody as much as the vox. Overall I liked it. Tye Lemery - I wasn't immediately grabbed by the intro, but I did like the start of the song proper. I began to lose interest by the end but I liked it...

Re: Might as well call this a review thread, I guess. (HBFY)

Pigfarmer Jr – Sara mentioned that this sounded like it was written for “Out of a Hat.” I’m sure that’s no secret, especially given that upon close inspection I can hear the “out of a hat” line underneath the “has been for years.” I think the song would have worked better if it simply ended at 1:35...

Re: Can a Cuckoo Land in the Clouds? (Cloud-Cuckoo-Land reviews)

Berkley Social Scene: I liked most of the drumming, the bass run I hear repeated and most of the melody. It seems to work especially well at the end. I didn't like the vox being muffled by the guitars and some of the vocals toward the beginning. A pretty good song, but it went on just a hair for me....

Re: Can a Cuckoo Land in the Clouds? (Cloud-Cuckoo-Land reviews)

Cloud Cuckoo Land reviews DJ Ranger – Reminds me slightly of Amanda Effing Palmer and her EvelynEvelyn project. Which I like. Love the piano and the almost music box themes… and the sometimes odd note. Ecks Acksis - I think the toy piano sound was used effectively. I like the juxtaposition with the ...

Thanks, Tibor. I took a look at yours as well.

Looking forward to listening to all the submissions. I'm not sure how many fights I've been in, probably 5 or 6 total, but I've started and/or finished several others that were never submitted. Glad to actually finish one.

Cloud-Cuckoo-Land Pigfarmer Jr They say I'm living in a Cloud I'm just one of many There is quite a crowd They say I'm living in a Cloud They say I'm like a cuckoo bird I'll tell you stories The strangest that you've heard They say I'm like a cuckoo bird (I'm flying high) (Up in the sky) No matter ...

Re: If it's in the cloud, can I still listen to it? (prefight)

I looked at the references and the musical ones at least are all or mostly from the U.K. beginning in the 80's. Yep - I think Aristophanes played bass for A Flock of Seagulls Didn't realize the Aristophanes reference was to a musical. But I guess Greek plays had music in them so I should have. More...

I looked at the references and the musical ones at least are all or mostly from the U.K. beginning in the 80's. I'd think it entered the social conscience of you nice folks across the bowl more than here. I don't have any memory of reading about it or any references to it. But then I'm a forgetful g...

It looks like I'll be in... might be bringing friends. I thought the title odd and not very inspiring and then got an idea 5 minutes later and had the song written in no time.... now I'm off to record.

Re: Make sure your seat backs and tray tables... (Hard Landing)

Thanks for the reviews. I'll get to my reviews in the next day or two (been out of town for holiday.)
I just wanna thank you all for the positive comments. I had zero time to record this and it's not even half finished. (Not that my finished would be much better.) Thanks again.

Re: Ooch Ouch, Skip, Bump, Smack. Prefight Now. Blammo.

I got the song written and a rough recording yesterday. I've started on a slightly more polished version today but am already hitting road blocks. If I don't get the recording done today the mix won't get done by Friday.
