New Music Friday - 3/8/19

Hi All, First and foremost, let's be sure to all listen to Songfight veteran MC FRONTALOT's new album NET SPLIT today. He needs literally thousands of digital plays to equal the sale of one physical CD. Other albums I plan to check out today: Wyclef Jean - Wyclef Goes Back To School Volume 1 David G...

Re: The Umbrella Academy (on Netflix)

Finally started watching this over the weekend and it is okay. I'm mostly surprised by how old some of the songs on the soundtrack are. David Gray songs from White Ladder?

Yes, those tracks are seriously long. I don't remember how much of it I listened to. It is fairly intimidating.

Wasn't too impressed with either Hosier or Shy Girls. Listening to Kehlani - While We Wait. Very groovy.

Re: New Music Friday - 3/1/19

Thanks for the reminder! I fell down a Tortoise hole this morning and have been listening to them all day. I'll take a break to listen to these next: Hozier - Wasteland, Baby! I'm not a fan or anything, but I heard a lot about his new song Nina Cried Power and really liked it. Curious if the rest of...

Good point. They usually try to tie the show to the movies.

I spent some time listening to the new Panda Bear album Buoys this morning and what a difference it made. This album is really interesting with textures, effects, and spacial elements.

How's the Lemonheads album? I'm a big fan of nearly everything they've ever done... apart from the first Varshons, which I thought was terrible, so I'm a little wary of the new one.
it's no Shame about Ray. Pleasant enough for a couple of listens, but not very exciting overall.

I'm digging the Better Oblivion Community Center song Dylan Thomas quite a bit, which is a surprise for me because I usually don't care for Conor Oberst, but in collaboration with Phoebe Bridgers, I'm really enjoying this track. I'm going to check out their self titled debut today. https://youtu.be/...

Re: A Room With Some New Unused (A Doom With A View Reviews)

There can (and will) be phase issues between a mic'd and DI'd or any number of mics. Whether these add or subtract can be subjective, so you should take care to look (listen!) for phase issues in your tracks. Here's an article from Universal Audio that explains the issues without giving many silver ...

Re: Berhinger cheap knockoffs off classic analog gear

I feel like there have been a lot TB303 clones over the years, but less so on the drum machine front. I hope they do the 909 and 707 as well. I had a 707 for a while and the individual outputs were really nice.

I'm pretty interested in the 808 clone myself.
