Re: SpinTunes 17 Results

Congrats to Also in Blue - very well deserved! For me, this was creatively exhausting, and I can't imagine doing this at twice the pace a la Nur Ein. Huge thanks to Micah and the judges for slogging through this. Congrats to all the other contestants, and thanks to all of you for sharing some great ...

Re: It packs a wallop (Spiked Punch prefight)

Title and challenge lend themselves to the faux irish bullshit I used to sling around here. If I wasn't exhausted from Spintunes I might join in. Maybe I will anyway.

God this is a good title. If I didn't have Spintunes and an audiobook to finish this week I'd be in.

Re: SpinTunes 17 Round 2 Challenge

Mine's coming along ok. Had to redo a lot of the arrangement, as it unintentionally was sounding very much like the Godfather theme 🤦‍♂️

Also trying some things musically outside my comfort zone, so I look forward to being on the cut list next week 😎

Holy shit, did not expect that. Would have been happy sneaking by in the 20's. Congrats to all who made it into round 2. Very sad to see the cut list - I hope you all submit shadow songs and find a way back in to kick my ass.

Submitted yesterday. First time doing vocals from the newly-treated closet booth. Controlling pro tools wirelessly via tablet feels like some star trek shit.

Did you say good things about all the songs? Might be running into capacity limits.

Re: You can only avoid (Potential Consequences reviews)

Gave a quick skim through the songs. Not really feeling this fight. Cool sounds from Here, Atticus , though I wish it developed more. Really strong entry from Brother Baker , though I have loads of nitpicks, like how the bass sound is all wrong for the genre. Generally you'd want a picked, growly so...

It's been nearly 20 years since I performed this, but if you need another bass I may be able to contribute. Just the chorus and not the whole Messiah, right?

Re: Instant Band: Song Fight Edition

My thought was that the group would make that decision rather than it be assigned, or are you suggesting it is a role in addition to the others? Even when we did this in person, someone eventually had to take the lead and get the group working together. No, but it's good to explicitly acknowledge o...

Re: Instant Band: Song Fight Edition

Having recently done Frankensong, I can say that having a 'project manager' is extremely useful . Pick someone in the group you can all agree has the authority to make quick decisions to get the song done on time without anyone's feelings getting hurt. Set up a schedule and enforce it eg: lyrics and...

Re: Music Room Storage and Organization

Also here's my messy cupboard of stuff (sorry for double post, max three images per post I think?). Badly needs sorting out, there's a bunch of stuff in here that never gets used. cupboard.jpg This is the kind of content I'm hoping for when I see this thread title. The hanging shoe organizer or wha...

I've been working on a BSS album all year. Probably won't get it out in 2020 sadly. But soon! I was not that organized. For the late stage stuff I've been reading a lot of checklist type sites like this one:

Some great resources at that link. Thanks for that!

Planning a full album, or how to inject excel into every part of life

I shared my project tracker in the Discord and got some cool responses. I'm very interested in what kind of planning you folks have done ahead of full album releases. https://i.imgur.com/lHlYpG8.png I don't have an order or deadlines for accomplishing any of this, though I could go full on GANTT cha...

Re: What was that? (Disembodied Voice reviews)

This is past being funny. Critique of art doesn't require that one be a master artist. This all pretty plainly falls short of critique, though, and one might try to be aware of how glassy his glass house is when hurling stones at everyone else. Seriously j$ - I've been interacting with you for nearl...
