Re: Songfight.net

As far as I've ever heard Dorie and presumably JB have the login/password for the Twitter account. Hopefully I'm not bringing up a sore subject here or anything, though I am probably sounding like a broken record, but you can if you want show tweets that have "songfight" in them, instead o...

Re: Songfight.net

Yeah, having server issues today. It was my brother's birthday yesterday so I'm giving him a little more time to realize things are broken and fix them before I bug him about it. I'm getting what I pay for with "free" hosting...

Re: Songfight.net

My two cents is that a content aggregation tool/portal that automatically draws from a variety of content sources that people are already updating anyway seems like a good way to make sure things stay fresh. Have it pull in content based on tags on Twitter, Flickr, etc. etc. That way anybody can con...

Re: Somesongs (what can be done?)

You can now also provide an album name for a song if you want to. It's optional. It only shows up on the song info page for now. If you copy info from Bandcamp the album name will get copied over if the track is part of an album. I'm probably going to make it optionally visible in the song lists, an...

Re: Hostess Mostess Album Help

"Pasty White Man" is another good one.

Also "Les Anchois".

"Here Comes My Dragon" too.

I also like "Dinner For One".

Re: Stupid Deal of the Day on Musician's Friend

Moonlight Special is a $66 dollar overdrive pedal that looks interesting: http://www.moonlightspecial.com/ Going Today has a $20 A/B switcher, which is probably not useful for most folks here as it seems like something that's more suited for live performance than home recording: http://www.goingtoda...

Re: Hostess Mostess Album Help

That would be awesome! One song that immediately comes to mind for me is "King Me".

I'd also be happy to offer support, in guitar leads, slide guitar, melodica, accordion, bass vocals, or whatever.

Wow, that is really awesome. I'm tempted to get one of these Tascam solid state stereo field recorder gizmos for $50:

Jonathn Mann's 1000th Song a Day Song and Concert

Hi Folks, Today is the day Jonathan writes his 1000th song-a-day song! Tonght in San Francisco we're having a concert to celebrate that. We're playing a whole new set of songs, all from his June Kickstarter funded song-a-day collaboration project, featuring Carol Cleveland Sings, fluffy, and many ot...

Re: Somesongs (what can be done?)

Oh fudge, I forgot to add the Bandcamp integration to the form for editing a song too. FYI it's only there when you add a song at the moment. Should be fixed in the next 24 hours.

Fixed.

Re: Somesongs (what can be done?)

EDIT: I updated your old account's email and password to the ones you used for your new account. The username of that account is "Caravan Ray" (with the upper case letters) by the way. EDIT: Old account deleted, along with the artist for it, the song, and the two ratings and one comment on...

Re: Somesongs (what can be done?)

So... does the file still need to be hosted somewhere, or will somesongs draw the music from Bandcamp as well as the lyrics and other info? I haven't tested this very thoroughly, but it should be able to use the file from Bandcamp. It worked in the two cases that I tried (Berkeley Social Scene and ...

Re: Somesongs (what can be done?)

I had the capital D. When I got it to send the password it came up with an error, but the email came through so I ignored it. Maybe the password was not reset? Could be that it sent the email before it updated the database and the database update failed, I'm not sure. Thanks for the heads up about ...

Re: Somesongs (what can be done?)

Hm, it worked for me. Did you make sure to login with username "Denyer" with a capital "D"? The username is case sensitive I think. Anyway, I'll set it to something and PM you what it is.

Re: Somesongs (what can be done?)

There should be a nicer error message in this case now. I also added the "Login Help" link next to the login form, though it just emails people new passwords, which isn't helpful if the email address for the account is defunct. In that case, PM me or send a message to the admin on somesong...

Re: Somesongs (what can be done?)

Sorry for the unintelligible error message. What it means is that there was already an artist named "Caravan Ray". The old "Caravan Ray" probably wasn't showing up in searches because all the links for that artist's songs are probably broken and its songs have been hidden. That a...

Re: Threatening to Enter? (prefight)

Dear Sam. It took 2 hours for the unofficial jukebox notifier to send me an email about this new title. That's 2 hours I will never get back. Possibly, if I were able, and willing, against all odds, to rejoin the fighting of songs, that would mean my song would be 2 hours weaker than it could have ...

King Arthur, are you still looking for Patrick Clayton's cover of "Adaptation" by Pray for Mojo for the Hxaro archive? I have that mp3 at home and can send it to you this weekend if so.

Re: Official Unofficial Wiki Thread (SFBase.net)

I've contemplated this before. While parsing "X feat. Y" is simple there are other cases that are less straightforward. "X & Y" doesn't necessarily always mean it's a combination of two separately submitting artists, for example, "Barrels, Leaves & Strings". Dit...

Re: Somesongs (what can be done?)

It's been a while, and no one has been using the site much, but I have just made a novel update to somesongs.org that I wanted to mention. I've added some basic Bandcamp integration. If you have songs posted to Bandcamp, you can use those files and the data you've entered about those songs on Bandca...

Re: Yep, there's a lot of spam lately

We need a sign somewhere that says "Spam free for N days". Seems like N is a larger number now than it got to for a while before the changes you made, fluffy, so thanks again, and thanks to the FMs for delegating the task.
